RE: Mark's repair manual

Steven, I purchased Mark's book to guide me with repairs for my 1973 DW and it has helped immensely. That is, when I can borrow it back from my neighbor that owns a 2003 DW. They use it more than I do! (maybe I will buy them one for Christmas). It really is applicable to just about all models. Susan

RE: re-leveling

Steven, I am right in between Maureen and JD and just a bit north of you (in the Napa Valley). I did some checking recently and got 3 quotes, $750 - $1,100 for a 24x60 double wide. Only one of them used the water level system. 2 places said they could do it in 2 hours or less, the other one said it ...

Busybee,

I just went through your album on the sewing room. Terrific job! You are very creative. If I send you a plane ticket will you come to my house? :P

RE: Big decisions, need help.

I heard on the CBS news last night that there is a major problem with 76,000 of the FEMA trailers. A lot of them have been found to be contaminated with formaldehyde gases that are causing serious health issues and may be linked to at least one death.

RE: Kitchen Cabinets and trim...

Indians, Thank you for the link. This is great! It should work well on the doors and trim. I have been wanting to do something like this with my kitchen cabinets. It appears to be very simple, even though it takes a little extra time. I would choose a lighter, soft color for your walls. The dark woo...

RE: Painting and Removing Strips

Stephanie,

You would not need to tape and paint around them. You can paint them the same as you do the walls. I did it both ways, removing them in some rooms and leaving them in others. Both worked for me with good results.

Congrats JD. Your advise is worth it's weight in gold. Now if you would just move a little farther north, things would be perfect!

Mobilehome Park Conversions

We have heard many times about parks all over the country being converted to different uses and putting the mobilehome owner out on the streets. I read the article below in my local newspaper today that made me think there is some hope for us. It's not a done deal yet, but we're close! http://www.na...

RE: Flooring

Amy, I have used peel & stick tile in a couple of my rooms with great success. Just take your time and follow the instructions and you should do OK. Remember that preparation is really important for a good bond with the surface below. Clean it well, then clean it one more time! I think it was Ya...

RE: Chattel home loans?

SecretAgentWoman, I don't know if this will help, but I got a flyer in the mail yesterday for MH financing of all types. The link is www.LoanJunction.com. They advertise fairly decent interest rates and types of loans for new, old and refinance. I have not used them so cannot recommend it. They say ...

RE: skirting update

Brenda, We just did this about a week ago. As long as the rails are there it shouldn't be a problem. Just set the panels inside the rails and slide them behind the porch. We had existing skirting, so we just removed a couple of panels, put in the pieces that needed to slide behind our new deck, and ...

RE: Spring Cleaning Tips!

Maureen - I'm not laughing at you! It is sooooo good to see that someone else uses the sock to do corners. I have done this for years (the kids thought I was NUTS). I save hubby's old ones that stretch out at the top and they work great. I also use them on my hands to clean window ledges, grills on ...

RE: What model mobile home do I have?

Ben, If you got a 10-year old home delivered and set up for $16,500 that is in as good condition as you say, IMHO, you got a GREAT deal. Something like that here in No. Calif., set up in a park would cost you $40 - 50,000. A co-worker of mine just sold her mother's 1964 SW (10x50) 2bed/1 bath, set u...

Welcome to the group and congratulations on your first mobilehome. They certainly present their challenges, but I personally would not own a stick-built again! The folks here are a fountain of information and truely worth their weight in gold (or better yet CHOCOLATE!). Looking forward to your...
