Nickell, Hi & welcome. As the others have said, weight is a major issue. Yes it can be done, has been done and is some cases major problems have come from it. I have always said that with enough planning and money ANYTHING is possible, You have to make the decision if it is feasable or not. Greg

RE: water heater replacement
I know there is a clearance spec. but I do not know off the top of my head what it is, you could check some of the water heater web sites and see if they list it or check with a home center and see if it is on the box. Greg

RE: how to cut a hole in metal?
How many holes? How big??? You can buy a cheap hole saw at the dollar store if you only need 1 or 2 holes up to 2" or (if you were a guy) could go spend $1500 on a nice plasma cutter and cut any size / shape hole you want!! Greg

RE: Popcorn? ceiling
You may want to try priming with kilz and repainting, It is a lot of work, since you may need to use a brush & dab the ceiling, a roller may lift the popcorn off. Painting that way is still easier than removing the popcorn and then painting. Greg

RE: radiator flush???
Tranny flush would not hurt, but is it really necessary? there are a few thoughts about them, first as Yanita said, if the fluid looks ok and smells ok then I would put it on the back burner for now. Now I would guess that either they were having a special or they are on a commission for what they s...

The only "major" problem that is difficult to plan for is rottage. When I did our'91 I did find a few sills that were either rotted or starting to. If you are planning on using stock sized windows it will not be an issue since you will most likely have to reframe to the correct size any ho...
