RE: Do I need to lay new plywood...

Just remember - you will not be able to get the floor perfectly smooth and flat. It will drive you crazy trying. I used Bondo for big cracks and holes. I believe you can see that in some of my pics. I would suggest a pattern of some sort to break up the imperfect bumpiness of the plywood. You could ...

RE: Do I need to lay new plywood...

I painted the Plywood that was there.

I just made sure to scrape it first. Then I primed it and used gloss oil-based deck paint. That was a year ago and both rooms are holding up very well.

Pics in my album.

A great solution if a new floor is not in the budget... IT'S CHEAP!

RE: Shading the house - with mesh tarp

Thanks

Have been thinking about that too. Found this website where you can order pre-cut sheets to fit your windows.

RE: Shading the house - with mesh tarp

Here it is - It shades the wall that gets the most afternoon sun. I may get another and double the area.

Don't mind the ugly yard - it is on the list of TO-DOs

RE: Shading the house - with mesh tarp

I'm going to hijack my thread back just to update . Got my mesh tarp from Ebay (26'x12'). Looks like a good quality tarp. Mounted it just under the eave (eve?) of the house and tied it off to a few fence posts kinda like a cheap awning. It does make a nice shade which is WAY cooler than the d...

RE: Shading the house - with mesh tarp

Attic? No attic here. No soffit vents or ridge vents. (or maybe I don;t know what they look like  ) Budget will not allow me to call out any type of insulation expert - It's me or nothing. The roof does get a lot of sun, but it really starts to get hot when the sun hits the one unshaded wall. ...

Shading the house - with mesh tarp

It's not even Summer yet and my window unit A/C is having trouble keeping my living room below 80 degrees. I have not had this problem before, so the unit is okay as far as size. The problem is that about 2/3 of one outside wall gets BEATEN by the sun in the afternoon. Trees shade much of the rest. ...

RE: Again with the Elastomeric Roof Coating

Just looked at Behr and found their "roof paint". It's specifically for asphalt shingles.

I also found this:

Boosting water pressure - need info

I tried searching, but couldn't really find what I was looking for. I would like to boost the water pressure to my home. Here is some info that might help to answer my question: I have city supplied water. My water pressure is about 80% of what I'd like. I would also like to set up a second filter, ...

Metal roof over shingles -

I am thinking ahead to the future and wondering if anyone has experience doing this? I have a 16x76 SW with a peaked roof, asphalt shingles. I have read that you lay down new underlayment - then battens - then metal. I wanted to know if anyone has links to any similar projects that I could see pics ...

RE: 1-Piece Shower wall - installation

The pan and wall are separate - the wall comes folded up in a 36x70x6 box. It's basically a sheet that bends at the corners. Removing the old shower was a bit of a pain and of course removing old plumbing is always unpleasant (to say the least). Installed the pan, new drain and drain plumbing today....

1-Piece Shower wall - installation

I am replacing my 32x32 shower stall with a new pan and 1-piece wall unit. Can it be attached without using the plastic rivets? With just adhesive? Maybe non-rusting screws with caps? I don't much care for the rivets.

RE: Painting Exterior

1 - Unless you are an experienced painter I would suggest NOT using a sprayer. You would not believe the amount of overspray you can get by not properly masking everything - you do NOT want to paint the neighbor's car. 2 - It's all in the prep - As Yanita said - clean thoroughly, then clean again......
