RE: peaked roof building?
This topic came up a few years ago with one of our members. My mind being mush these days, I can't remember who. Maybe Lane? Anyway, same problem. the park required that all homes have peaked roofs. If I remember correctly, he took his roof completely off, trusses and all and rebuilt from there. We ...

RE: Look what was walking towards my garden...
Hi, I'm almost 500 miles from Vegas, way up in the North Western part of the state, at the base of the Sierras. Huge mountains on one side and desert on the other. The Southern part of the state is pretty, I lived in Vegas for 5 years! But I prefer to see a bit more green and my mountains, not the l...

RE: Look what was walking towards my garden...
Between wild fires and drought, all wild life is getting very common to see in my neck of the woods! Including a lot of bears! Mostly black and brown bears. We also have huge problems with coyotes this year and rattlers. Their habitat has been taken over by fire and us moving into their world out he...

RE: Need to replace the back door
Yep, went through the same problem a few years ago. Personally, I hate those outswing doors! We took our old door out and replaced it with a door from Lowes. Cost of the door was about $125.00 (back door), 9 paned window door. Another $25.00 for new framing and screws. About $50.00 for the new lock ...

Hot August Nights & Sturgis!
If you're a fan of hot old cars or bikes this week, you're in luck! Both Sturgis and Hot August Nights have streaming video of both events! I'll be enjoying Hot August Nights with the boys before they ship out to BTC in person. Don't expect to see me again until Sunday night! Love the bikes, but cla...

I've sort of left this post alone for a few days, because I was waiting to hear from one of my brides. I still haven't heard back from her. That's very unusual for a bride with a wedding 3 weeks away. I keep praying that I hear from her soon! I can only imagine what you're going through Lynnie! It's...

RE: Mark's repair manual
Hi Steven, As others have stated, Mark's manual is generic. But, it does hit all of the high points of owning a mobile home, whether that be a 1950's home or a brand new home! It doesn't matter whether your planning on doing the repairs yourself or hiring the jobs out. What it does give you is knowl...

Hi Macmom! I am so sorry that I missed your original post! My life has just been a bit crazy also! I am so glad to hear that your grandson is improving. I've been on the aunt end of premature babies and the mother of a baby in NICU for a week. Nothing in life is harder! If Tyler weighs 4.7, that sou...

Mark, I knew you were a smart man! Yep, if mama ain't happy, no body's happy! On the other hand, if it wasn't a close family wedding, I would have chose Sturgis and just sent a really nice gift LOL! I was just getting ready to post The link to Hot August Night's web cast. It starts tomorrow night. W...

RE: Replumb home how many?
Hi dwj, There is no way I can answer you question at all! I think the pro plumbers here would need a little more information. Different homes have different plumbing. Nothing is standard so much in the mobile home world. Also, you didn't mention what your using to replumb your home with. Different p...

RE: Plumbing Drain Problem
Hello, This is one of those questions that is easier to answer if we have a profile to refer to. You have to have a vent, it's code. Where it's located depends on your home. You may have a roof vent or a check vent in an access door somewhere. With a little more info about your home, at least the ag...

RE: space between house and garage
Personally, I wouldn't try to tie in a roofed structure if you have a wind issue, unless you have it professionally done. I wouldn't attach it to the house, but maybe Lloyd Wright is still around to give you advice on that subject. If your major concern is the wind and the backdoor, I'd suggest that...

Hi Lorne, Sorry your siding has gone lumpy on you! Craftsman is still in business out West here. Actually they are making some of the best homes in this area right now. Twenty years ago, there wasn't much quality control when creating our homes, as Mark stated. Not to mention the quality of siding t...

Hi Folks. thanks for the thoughts and prayers! They are really appreciated! Harry, I know that they will be back! LOL, Daniel got upset when I mentioned that their bedroom will change soon! We let him know that he'll always have a home to come to, but that bedroom is prime real estate LOL! I am so n...
