Fake Rock

Hello, I posted here around a month ago about making fake rock out of drywall mud. I did an experiment and I think it will work. I took the mud I purchased pre-mixed and did not dilute it. I used a picture of river rock and real river rock as guides to shape the "rocks". I did this on a sc...

RE: Decorating Wall Behind Fireplace

I think the best thing to do is a sample on a separate piece of scrap sheet rock. Shape the "rock" and let it try. I'll let you know how it turns out.

thanks,

RE: Decorating Wall Behind Fireplace

Thanks, I wasn't sure about the weight. It is good to know the wall can handle it. Believe it is 1/2" sheetrock. But I am still considering the cost. I may try a sample area with the mud and let it dry, paint it and then decide. A small area can be fairly easy to remove if it doesn't work out. ...

Decorating Wall Behind Fireplace

Hello, We have a free-standing gas fireplace that was installed last year. (used licensed contractor, took care of insurance) I would like to rock the wall behind it. It is a matte black and river rock would look pretty good. However, the cultured rock is not cheap and fairly heavy. There is a possi...

RE: Hot water heater question

Thanks for the responses. I did a little more of a search online and one site says to open the pressure relief valve in order to properly drain it. Archie you noted the safety valve check- maybe that is why not too much water came out? The heater is working okay-4 years old. No problem noted at this...

Hot water heater question

 Hello, I did a search and did not see this topic. As part of seasonal maintenance I decided to drain the hot water heater. Just somewhere sometime I had heard that this makes it last longer. Okay-this is a 40 gallon Satellite sealed gas hot water heater. Procedure: I shut off the water at the ...

RE: shower head

Thanks, Mark. I may order that one for the other shower. Is there an extension arm that goes along with it? Would like it down lower into the shower stall..for the short people...

RE: shower head

Thanks for the response. The shower arm that comes out of the wall does not seem to be plastic. It is a very lightweight metal, maybe aluminum. It doesn't sag or anything with the new shower head on it so maybe it will be okay. I just don't want it to damage any plumbing in the wall. What a nightmar...

shower head

 Hello, I posted a time or two on the previous forum and have not had another question until now. I haven't gone through to figure out the profile-home is 4 years old and has PEX plumbing. 28 x56. My question has to do with shower heads. We replaced the original-which weighed almost nothing-wi...
