Re: Walling in Exterior Door / Vapor Barrier question

There might be paper under the T-111. See if you can check under a piece that is up there now and use the same thing. Actually it is for moister to run down if it gets behind the T-111. The vapor barrier is on the heated side so you should have either the paper on the insulation you use in the insid...

Re: Plumbing vs. underbelly

You can use just about anything to cut Pex with but I like this type of cutter. Also work great on CPVC, PVC, Rubber Hose and more.

Re: Bath and shower drain

I've never seen a "normal" tub drain with overflow in a MH. Mine is a 2000 and doesn't have overflow type drains. Maybe on the really new ones they have upgraded to overflow type drains but I haven't seen them. These have to be accessed from underneth the trailer and you have to find the ...

Re: Bath and shower drain

OK Greg, I see the ones you are talking about no. I have not run into one like that for a while now. it seems like even in newer mobiles today they are starting to use the regular type but now I do remember working on some like this before. Some of the newer one still don't have the overflow but the...

Re: Bath and shower drain

Greg, that is a sink drain. Most tub drains have what is called a shoe under it and if the top is not that corroded or rusted then you can get them loose with this tool. Ron This is the shoe. http://www.homerepairforum.com/images/uploads/2005-3-4_Bathtub_Drain_w550.JPG This is the tool they make two...

Re: water pressure?? problems

Sounds like you will gradually get things worked out. Good move on getting the water tested. I try to get mine done about every three years. One thing on the pressure is I wonder if it could just be the new check valve? It might be a little tight and will get a little better after a while. The plast...

Re: water pressure?? problems

I have a valve drain on the bottom of my pressure tank if you have one try running water out there to try and clean it out. Hot Water heater smell could be higher iron in your water or even the same thing, that it has some metal chips in the tank. I would hook a hose on the hot water tank drain and l...

Re: water pressure?? problems

Are you actually getting metal pieces or just rusty water? Once air hits the old pipe that maybe you did not change farther up going into the house the rust on the inside will scale a little. That should stop after a day or two. Let the water run for while. Also check the screens on your shower head...

Re: water pressure?? problems

Man, surprised that was still running. They don't always use the Torque Arrestor but it looks like this and it goes on the pipe just above the pump.

Re: water pressure?? problems

With that depth I would definitely have liked to have the centering disc they also hold the wires straight, but did he at least tape the wires to the pipe every 20 feet or so? Also today they usually also add a torque suppressor that helps keep the pipe from twisting every time the pump kicks on. Th...

Re: water pressure?? problems

Glad everything worked out OK. Did you tie a rope on the new pump for safety reasons? That way if anything does happen later down the road if it came loose from the pipe the rope is there to retrieve the pump. Wires will act as the same thing but they have been know to break if the torque break give...

Re: what kind of pipe?

For transitions I have used PVC pipes and glued with the "Red Label" All Purpose Glue. It is for ABS, PVC, CPVC.

Re: water pressure?? problems

600 to 700ft.? Man that is deep. Around here if you have one more then 250 to 300ft. they call it an Artisan Well and say you will never run out of water. 600 to 700 ft. is a lot of pressure on that pump and check valve so I am surprised it lasted this long.
