RE: my new place

Have you looked into a three piece SHOWER surround?

I took one from tub to ceiling, pretty much like you are describing. I got it at Home Depots or Lowe's.

RE: Used or left over

You can check with the park manager. On evictions, or tear down mobile homes, they have been known to sell or "donate" the remaining sheds, porches, decks, or skirting to interested parties... the park maintenance folks can often be hired to help move the items, especially if it will fit o...

Linda,

I wonder if the local fire department would be willing to bring out a truck, and attach to a fire hydrant and wash the mud out from under the trailer? Especially if it is a volunteer department?

Hi Lorne, there are root remover type products listed on the web, the following is an example. http://www.masterplumber.net/rootx.htm I had a plumbing service clean out roots on a rental house, (NOT A MH) and they sold me a product to keep roots from returning. I wonder if it would be a slow process...

RE: What Kind of Plumbing Pipes Are These?

Hey Jinx, this might be the ideal project to learn to work with your pex plumbing on... not an emergency! lol if you do hire a plumber, you may want to schedule it so you can see him do crimps, and see how easy it is. then you can better decide if you want to take on any of your own repairs in the f...

need a used gas MH furnance

RE: Reducing Your Electric Bill

Instead of turning the water heater down during the day, you may want to get a programable thermostat. if you get a good one, you can program it to turn the heat down while you are at work, up before you get home, and down again a 1/2 hour after you go to bed, and back up before you get up. I have a...

RE: Light bulbs keep blowing

My utility company gave us coupons for compact bulbs, and I happened to have checked the instructions on the compact bulbs box.\es last night. most cannot be used in "pendant lights" which I think means you cannot use them in enclosed fixtures. and unless you get the right types, they also...

RE: HVAC floor vents

I know what I would consider trying because of the price and because you could easily remove it.... Nylon netting is very cheap by the yard. buy the one with the biggest holes to minimize cutting down air flow.\ cut a piece 2 inches bigger around on each side than the vent, remove the vent cover. pu...

adjusting the strike plate (if it is not far enough out, you can remove it, put something behind the plate at the top and bottom and replace the screws. if need something very thin, maybe try pieces of plastic from a margarine tub, if need something much thicker, maybe pieces from a paint stirrer? i...

I wonder if you look in the $$$ store if contact paper would work and be cheaper than the traps? staple the paper upside down onto a piece of cardboard, then peel off the cover sheet....? sprinkle on a tiny bit of sugar? lol we are so lucky we mostly only get bugs inside if their is a drought... opp...

RE: Help with window sills

I have heard of folks cutting and using leftover laminate flooring, it is fairly thin, and has a slightly water resistant top surface. if you use paneling, you may want to give it a coating of polyurethane so if any rain gets on it it tends to sit on top so you can wipe it off. and caulk the edges to...

RE: Trying to get a feel for price and quality

maybe one of the moderators could give the link to the thread or good search terms from when folks discussed the best upgrades when buying a new MH? I remember that plywood floors instead of particle board was a good upgrade, and taking the higher wall thickness, and extra insulation... but any othe...
