old windows in winter?

Our MH is older and most of the windows are the type with two panes that you crank open. The previous owner had caulked them shut for some reason. I finally got rid of the caulk and got most of them to operate pretty well. However they do not close tightly enough for winter weather. I am considering...

RE: choosing our water source - opinions

Thanks for the advice. We put in a new septic tank last fall and it needed permits from the county. I think we are OK in that respect. However, I don't know if my one neighbor has a tank or a field.

RE: choosing our water source - opinions

The current well is about 30 feet away from MH. It is down an embankment that leads to the river. I think that about 25 years ago when it was put in, it was a better (cheaper?) way of doing things.

Is there a reason the well should not be too close to the MH?

choosing our water source - opinions

Folks, We are in Iowa and close to where the worst flooding happened. Our pump is on a hill side below our MH and above the river. We have a sand point well. When the river flooded in June it covered the pump and well. After several days of drying it turned right on and seemed to work fine. We are c...

sandpoint well - winterizing?

Folks, We have a sand point well. When I winterize and shut down and empty all lines, do I pull out the PVC feeder line that goes down into the sand point or is it safe from freezing since it goes down 20 feet? Thanks.

outdoor shower

We plan to install an outdoor shower at our MH. It will be near our shed which has electric. The shed is about 20' from our MH. I am considering purchasing a small electric water heater/tank instead of tapping into our main unit in our MH. I would like to run piping from a water source near our pump...

heating the water pump and water tank? opinions?

We are new to mobile home living and are happy with our present unit. We use it for vacationing and want to use it in cold weather next year. Right now it is shut down until the spring. My cold-weather concerns are our water pump/well and water tank. The pump is in an inclosed area about 50 feet fro...

Newbie w/winterizing questions

Folks, My wife and I just bought our first mobile home as a vacation retreat. We are in Iowa and it gets pretty cold. Friends say we have to drain all the pipes for the winter which only lets us use MH from about March to November. I think I should be able to winterize well enough to be able to use ...
