Re: Shower Install - Where to start?

There are DIY floor pans that are like a gently sloped piece of high density styrofoam. I have seen them in HD up here. You just buy what you need and cut it to size, or add pieces to it, to fit. They do need a membrane on top of them and then tile or something like that. The drain is also specific ...

Re: Shower Install - Where to start?

One other thing to keep in mind, you don't want to put 2 waterproof systems on top of each other. Any moisture, from humidity etc. will be trapped between the layers and cause future problems.

Re: Shower Install - Where to start?

We had much the same situation. The tub is gone now and the shower has been "temporarily" replaced with another small one for the last 14 years....lol. I too want to replace the temporary shower with a full size one. We will probably end up with a "shower tub" arrangement in ther...

Re: Skirting

Well, I got a video edited of how I did the partial re-skirting. I only went as far as was needed so I could build the deck for now, but the rest will be done the same.

Re: Replace Roof Sheathing and Truss Question

When I did my re roof I did some upgrades at the same time. First, my trusses were 24" OC and the sheathing was also 1/2" with H clips and I also had venting issues as you do. I had the work done, I did not DIY this job. I had them strip the roof to the trusses. Then I had them add a 2 x 4...

Re: Skirting

At under 108 sq. ft, and not attached to the home, there was no permit required. It is overbuilt none the less.

Re: Skirting

So, I have my partial re skirting done with the concrete panels. I hope the links to the photos embed properly. I got enough done so I could build the new deck at the patio door. The roof over it has not been done yet though. At the other side of the patio stones will be a mirror image deck at the b...

Re: Cleaning Shower Stall

My wife puts toilet cleaner on ours. Works well, just let it sit for a bit and rinse it away.

Re: Frost line footers the easy way

They are about 4'+ deep. Depth perception gets wacky with video, particularly when using a bit of zoom.

Frost line footers the easy way

There is a new home going into our park. I shot some footage of them getting the holes for the frost line footers in. Much easier than digging, and a lot safer than an auger. I thought I would share it here as it is a pretty interesting process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep82VT4L8bs In other n...

Re: Skirting

I have 2 of the concrete panels up now. They go 4" into a trench and a further 3" or 4" under that. Put in some landscape fabric and filled with 3/4" crush (supplier could not find preferred pea gravel). Got a diagonal brace in on the second one and on top of the 3/4 I got the dr...

Re: Skirting

I have enough concrete board to do the section I want to start on now. I dug a trench, then it rained and it turned into a moat. Got some gravel being delivered. Apparently, pea gravel is hard to find around here, so I told the guy to get the smallest crush he could that has no sand in it. Maybe tod...

Re: Skirting

This is what I did. https://www.mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10629&p=55511&hilit=concrete+skirting#p55511 Greg That is pretty interesting. When I did the plywood skirting I first attached a 2x4 all around underneath then screwed the plywood directly to it. The bottom s...

Skirting

Almost time to redo my skirting. I did it 14 years ago on the cheap with 3/4" exterior plywood that I got free, and I must say it has held up pretty well. I braced the bottom with stringers coming diagonally off the wings of the frame. I am thinking of using 1/2" concrete board for the new...
