Re: My ceiling panel repair
it's highly unlikely that you'll get a like-new look. I have had some luck using suspended ceiling panels and caulking to repair small areas like this. Also, you could use a small piece of sheetrock and heavily texturing with spray can texture before you install it

A BETTER better skirting idea
Currently replacing aluminum horizontal with steel as per this article; I am using vinyl skirting top trim (backing plus flap front) rather than j-rail. See any negatives to this? I'm about to gather materials for another re-skirt, and gathering opinions.

Re: A question about products sold on here
I find it ironic that there is a big Quadrant Homes banner ad on the site lately.

If you like it, then choose it. *I* think it's ugly, but if you saw some of my choices, you'd say the same, I'm sure

The big hole @ the tub drain is pretty standard. Shove it full of steel wool;critters won't chew through it, and it's removable for the future

Why scrape the lino? It is the best water barrier you can have, and it's already there. Kilz the bare wood spots, and leave it alone til you install new floor covering. If you need leveling just put luan down

Fiberglas: using faced vs unfaced

Re: Remodel in progress
All in all seems pretty much on the mark. Yes, z-strip the stacked siding.
I think using a sistered 2x3 would be OK, and screw the windows to the framing, then side over them.
I have a similar project coming up

Its called a marriage line. No problem covering it with a panel of sheetrock, if they need to move the house and split it back apart, they'll just cut through it.

1. Open the breaker 2. Detach outlet from wall & let it hang into the room 3 . using a razor knife, cut the hole horizontally at, the top and again at the bottom, either right or left to the nearest wall stud. You'll need to cut a little higher and a little lower. 4. Nail in a new box, ensuring ...

Re: All is not equal....
I turned my dad, a long time landlord, on to MHs and after working on his first few, he said it's like working on something that's made to look like a house, but not a house. I say it's like working on a Hollywood set!
