Re: Flex cross over duct for heating and air

As long as they been closed off your all right. They must have seen a reason to install a new one in a different location. Perhaps better flow.

Re: Flex cross over duct for heating and air

Ok, so right now if you turn the AC on, do you have air flow coming out of every vent on both sides of the home? Your description is a little confusing. What were trying to understand is if you mean the cut the air flow to one side of your central air system or if they just cut the old flex duct out...

Re: Revolv furnace

Revolv is manufactured by Coleman. So basically it is a Coleman unit, just under a different name. Down flow furnace is what is used in mobile homes commonly. Since the duct work is normally underneath the home. That's a 80% AFUE rated furance which is basically minimum standard. Will be fine for yo...

Re: coleman outside unit quit running

The fan on the outdoor unit isn't running but it sounds like the compressor kicks over. I'd say a capacitor. I do not know that unit and some units have 2 capacitors and some have just 1. They are usually fairly cheap to replace. Just please ensure you have the circuit breaker switched OFF for the u...

Re: Correct Size (BTU OUT) For This Home?

I replaced one for a neighbor around here and his double wide is roughly similar to this one. I believe it was a 25kw furnace which puts out around 82,000 btu or more if I remember. They have calculators you can use to convert kW to BTU. But just to give you an idea if it is worth it or not. Our ele...

Re: Puppy tore out ducts, now thermostat not working?

Sounds like the crossover duct got mangled in the mayhem. Seeing as you say one side of the house is blowing but the other side nothing. In most doublewides they run 2 main duct trunk on each side of the home. And they are joined together with a large piece of flexduct normally. I would look for tha...

Re: New Flue-Old Furnace?

You should be able to replace it. It should just be like a 26 gauge metal flue. Got any pictures of it?

Re: outdoor antenna

A lot will depend on how far you are from the towers. I tried using a pretty simple one: Mohu Sky Antenna (Outdoor) http://www.gomohu.com/shop/sky-hdtv-outdoor-antenna.html Claims it's good for 60+ miles Unfortunately I was too far from most towers to make it worth it for me. I only picked up about ...

Re: Foul odor

Does it look something like this? http://i.imgur.com/GQ1jrJK.jpg This is what they install when you do not run out through the roof. Common in these mobile homes. They can go bad. These vent caps are suppose to be at least 4" above the sink P-Trap for them to work correctly. I see them down pre...

Re: Cooler and A/C

Let us know how it works out! I have been seeing a lot of these cooler A/C's all over the internet lately. Something like this would be good if you loose power during a storm in the Summer time but yet have a generator. I'd believe the electric draw is pretty low.

Re: Orange/blue Flame

Maybe it just needs some adjustment. Converting should have been pretty simple. Perhaps something was done incorrectly? Either way to me it would be worth it to just have a tech come out and make sure it is properly setup. If your flame is looking "Orange", then it is not burning correctly...

Re: 4-Ton Rheem Heat Pump too Big for 16x80?

There's a lot to factor in here. Is this a newer home? 2 x 6 walls? Good insulation? Windows etc etc etc......

I got a 16 x 80 and I'm running a 2.5 Ton Heat Pump. 1,200 SqFt.

Get a local HVAC guy to check it out to make sure you get the proper size unit. If it's too big you will have some issues.

Re: water smells...

You can get a sample and have a "Water Conditioning/Plumbing" company test it for free usually just to make sure there's nothing really bad in there. You can try adding a simple whole house water filter kit. Not the hardest thing to install if you have some basic skills. That might help wi...

Re: Window Units or Mini-Split?

I never heard complaints from customers we put them in for. Only heard of issues when they are not installed correctly. What I might recommend for you be a 2 zone mini-split. Instead of using 2 outdoor unit, you only need 1 that will feed 2 indoor heads. 1.5 ton in the living room/kitchen and .5 ton...

Have a heat gun handy? Try hitting it with that and see if you can get it to scrap easily then.
