Re: Fiberglass Ductboard questions

I agree with you on that though. Makes sense, although mastic probably isn't a bad idea either way. It doesnt hurt to makesure its really really sealed good.

Re: pipes in winter

I've heard guys say about insulating the pipes can cause them to freeze quicker. I have not ever seen such a case but my method is I leave the hot pipe spaced with limited insulation and completely insulate the cold pipes so this lets little heat radiate from the pipe. Given your underbelly is intac...

Re: pipes in winter

Just use regular pipe foam insulation and fill in with more insulation if you think it needs more there. You should be fine given you run your forced air heat during the winter months.

Re: High heat bills

I wouldn't rule out the duct work but there is probably other things feeding to it. Perhaps incorrectly sized unit. Just because your keeping thermostat low does not mean you will likely have lower heating bills. When your heat runs does it do a lot of turning on and off, on and off frequently. It c...

Re: Fiberglass Ductboard questions

Yeah I got some good Extreme Weather Foil Tape thats UL approved and what not. Got plenty of the bands to hold the flex on the vents. I'm not a fan of the mastic stuff. I had duct systems that beat California code by a lot for air loss as we have to now pressure test our duct systems here in PA. As ...

Re: Fiberglass Ductboard questions

Never mind I finally got a call back from Owens Home Corning which the brand of fiberglass board I am using. They said it is okay to use this under mobile homes without concerns besides critters tearing it apart. I don't really have critter problems over here so hopefully nothing tears it to shreds!...

Fiberglass Ductboard questions

Just so we know I got a 2009 Skyline 14 x 80. I'm working on changing my heating/cooling system this summer. I currently have R-8 Insulated Flex Ducts ran to each room for return air pulls. Biggest pain in the butt crawling in that tiny ceiling! Anyways, as for the ductwork I will be looking to chan...

Re: fuel type 1 and 2

Ask who's going to be supplying you oil what a safe mix is. For X amount out Oil you will need X amount of Kero . You do not have to go %100 kero. But you will have to mix some kero in with the regular oil in order to prevent the gellin.

Re: heat ducts

Yes, on double wides there is usually a crossover that connects 2 main supply ducts. it might be a big flex duct with insulation. theres a pretty good chance its under the belly so you'll have to locate the trunks and dig through insulation for it.
