RE: Roof decks

Now since I know the area that you live, you must have seen the pole barn style roofovers. you could work off of this style and incorporate a deck also. Greg

RE: On a basement and block foundation

As long as you will be using concrete why not pour a cement pad under the rest of the home? I would use regular skirted home ventilation guidelines. Greg

RE: Underbelly project - need advise

Hi Tex, Welcome to the family. I will stop short of saying forget everything you know about construction of stick built homes, but Mobiles are different and do have some quirks. My first recommendation would be to purchase Mark's book, He is the owner of this site and his book is a bible for mobile ...

Just to be safe ANYTIME the water is off, turn the heater off also. It is much easier to turn it back on than to change the heater. Greg

RE: Water woe

Definitely get some fans going. If the wood is that soaked you may want to think about changing the joist or doubling it up. with that much water damage, did the river overflow again? Greg

RE: recently bought a handyman special

Karen, welcome to the family. One thing you will find about a mobile is that with enough planning (and money) ANYTHING is possible! Like Harry said I would buy Mark's (the owner of this site) book, it is a bible for home owners. By the sounds of it you may be better off planning a total rehab. and in...

RE: can you paint over outlet / switch covers?

Ted, Welcome to the family. Most of the covers just snap off, there usually are 2 snaps on the back of the cover one top and one bottom. they can be painted or try a strong cleaner first, the worst that can happen is that you have to paint it. Greg

RE: can stereo be replaced?

Ted, I guess I would have answer a question with a question, How much work do you want to do? If ALL of the speakers are dead, I would suspect a problem at the stereo end,(if you figure the odds of all of the speakers going bad). You should be able to find a new unit that fits in the hole. Greg

RE: Burglar proofing

OK Tim, this is where the OWNER has to have the Commitment. she is the one that has the power to make the change happen. If she knows there are problem people, evict them! As I said Our owner would rather have 50% occupancy of GOOD tennants, the word will spread that the place is being cleaned up an...

RE: Burglar proofing

Tim, If the PARK has a high crime rate perhaps the park as a whole should attack the problem. It will take work but if you can band the residents AND the management together with the police there WILL be a difference. A few years ago our park had the police here at least 3 time a week. My wife as a ...

Tim, just by the nature of our homes, they are not burgler proof, Heck, with a big enough truck they can take the whole home!! Like maureen said, Neighbors are a big part. upgrade the doors & windows. but in the long run if someone wants to get in, they will. Greg

RE: Mold And mildew

Saxman, realistically the only way to get rid of the mold is to replace the sheetrock. You may kill it, but the spors will still be there. plus when you open the wall up you can find the source of the moisture that causes the mold. It can be a major job, but if you are going to do the job, do it onc...
