Re: Deck Skirting

I just had my skirting replaced, and they used vertical pieces of j channel for the access panel to slide in.

Re: Trimming batten strips

The batten strips are quite fragile, so it would be best to cut them in place if at all possible. I just used a utility knife to cut them.

Re: Weather strip under door

Do you have a storm door? I don't see one, so installing one may be a solution.

Re: downspouts

Those look like the downspouts on my Silvertop awning. I needed extensions on mine, and I'm pretty sure they used plastic electrical conduit, which just slipped over the aluminum pipe.

It sure will. How long do you plan to have the floor open?

Re: Rotting Wood

Just replace the post. I wouldn't trust it to hold up with that much rot. It looks like it is fastened into a metal bracket at the bottom, and the wood doesn't go down into the concrete. A new post will likely cost less than the treatment.

Re: exhaust vent

My home came equipped with a vent which went from the roof into the furnace blower cabinet. It was "supposed to supply fresh air to the home, since it was so well sealed." The vent was quickly sealed off, since we know that there are many other air leaks. It was totally removed years later...

Re: Replace urine soaked insulation

Please, make sure to wear breathing and eye protection when working with fiberglass. You can get disposable protective clothing at a home center.
As to the type, I would use unfaced.

Re: insulating osb board underpinning

OK, how about I change my post to -- OSB will fall apart relatively quickly, due to the fact that the bottom edge will be exposed to constant moisture, being presumably in constant ground contact when used as skirting, and thereby having moisture wicking up into it from said ground contact. This wil...

Re: insulating osb board underpinning

You can, but if the belly wrap is intact, it is not really necessary. I wouldn't put too much effort into the osb, as it will rot quickly if exposed to moisture, particularly ground contact.

No opinion about the Revolv, I guess it is Coleman?
A down flow furnace is one which has the air discharge down through the bottom.

Yes, cost wise either the crimp clamps or cinch clamps will be cheaper than the sharkbites.

Re: CPVC PIPE

As long as it is open, I'd replace everything with PEX. It will expand instead of crack if it freezes. Yes, just drill through the floor, but seal the opening around the pipe to prevent air and varmint infiltration.

One place is in the "Books & Parts" link at the top of the forum page.
When you rebuild the deck, make it a freestanding unit.

Re: HELP!! Water in Floor Insulation

Also, if that deck is at the same level as the threshold, and attached to the home, it could be one cause of the water intrusion. Take a good look at the rim joist.
