RE: Mowing tips for a greener lawn
FYI - an EXCELLENT fertilizer for lawns and other plants is Ground Corn. The kind you buy at the feed store. You might want to use the fine-grind because you WILL have more bird / animal activity in your yard. You can't kill your lawn with it (by overspreading) and your Kids, and pets are safe. This...

No heavy snow - some heavy winds occasionally.

Need help with Deck design
I am finally able to afford to build a front entrance deck and I need help with the design. If someone would please point me to a website or maybe make some suggestions I'd be grateful. Here are the specifics: I want to build a 6'd x 12'w deck. A simple corrugated metal roof would be nice. My proper...

Sorry - this isn't an answer to your question, but...
What about Faux Painting? You could certainly create something that looks like wallpaper and then settling wouldn't matter. Plus, it's kinda fun.

I was going to contact the septic guy - just curious if it was a "every 2 years" or "every 5 years" kind of deal...

How often does a septic tank have to be emptied?
I know it is based on usage, but just for speculation, let's say a 1000gal tank in a 2 person home.
Ballpark?

RE: Question about PVC strength
Well, originally it was covered in about 2' of sand. Over that we dropped in some road base mixed with asphalt chunks and then topped it off with more road base. I would guess that it has a god 1'-2' of sand over it.
It would be nice to roll out this area so it gets packed nice and flat.

Question about PVC strength
I wasn't sure where to post this so I guess it'll get moved to wherever... Ok - lets say that I have a 1" PVC water line and it's buried under 2-3 feet of road base material. If I have someone use a commercial roller/compactor to go over it, is there any danger of crushing my water line? Thanks

Are waterbeds and mobile homes compatible?
Would a king size waterbed be a problem in a mobile home?

That's very strange. It sounds like the way a latex would act if you painted over oil based enamel, but that's not the case. Hmmmm...

...any idea on how it holds up to scratches and high traffic...? Haven't had it for too long, but it seems like it's pretty tough. After all it's made for an outdoor porch or deck. Because I did NOT use a clear topcoat, I can dab on touch-up paint easily if I need to. I will post pics in a few mont...

Look at that, Trudi - you spent enough time "in my kitchen" that you are now getting credit for the work! DOH!troyster wrote:Looks Awesome Trudi! Reminds me of when I did my kitchen. very similar in ways. very creative floor! Nice work!

RE: Speaking of painting floors...
That's pretty funny Trudi - maybe you could grab me something to drink while you're in there?... I will be starting a new project soon, though I will not be doing any floor painting. Can't afford new carpet and I definitely do NOT want all hard floors. Cabinets and walls in the Dining/Living area wi...

RE: Speaking of painting floors...
FYI - most of the cost was in replacing the cabinet hardware. I spent about $60 (which is CHEAP) on the pulls and hinges. The painting part really only cost me around (+/-) $25. I have a LOT of leftover paint from each gallon that I purchased.
