Mark, how about another contest?

Hello Mark, I would enjoy seeing a contest for one or more of the following repairs this summer 1. Bad window installation ( I would even be willing to not participate on this one to get the learnings...) 2. poorly done door installation (preferably a house replacement door) 3. piss poor replacement...

Re: Mobile Home Exterior

believe it or not, the next home I am renovating is a flamico pinky salmon pinky one.... all I can say is, the dark grass green complementing color was a good choice for the top stripe and the porch, the algae on the wood on the porch hardly shows at all ... and that the burgandy-colored plants that...

Re: Mobile Home Exterior

Yup, pressure wash the home, rinse well, and once dried, use the Duration. I have done two homes with it, one just the top stripe, the other the top stripe in one color, and the bottom of the wall in another color... looks great.... I cut in with a brush, and rolled the bigger areas... I did the pai...

Re: Low water pressure & softner question

there are low cost water pressure gauges, maybe 20 dollars or less if the hardware can set up up with one and an adapter to screw it onto both a hose fitting and a faucet fitting, you may be able to check water pressure at the crock, before and after the water softener, at each sink etc and have a l...

Re: replacing back door

Groo, that is a neat idea that I am going to try on the bottom section of a door that is flexing on the bottom. I think the board inside the veneer on the bottom of the door has broken from being forced open and getting stuck on the floor inside the door... just painting and installing plywood or a ...

Re: replacing back door

getting the door out is pretty basic, unscrew the screws, have some one push the door from inside gently, see if you missed any fasteners, have trim that has to be removed, any caulk or putty that has to be cut, person on the outside can have a small pry bar to gently help ease the door out.... if y...

Re: ? about moisture barrier

If water is rusting the same small spot over and over, maybe it would do through, light rusting coating over a large area... not so much of a big deal... look at it this way... how much rust do you have to get on your car frame before it becomes unsafe? and hopefully, more info and better answers wi...

Re: Ventline Exhaust Fan

the biggest thing is to open the vent up and see if it vents straight up, or to the side... if it vents to the side, the box stores or electrical supply houses may be the best bet for a reasonably priced replacement. vented straight up, probably need a speciality mobile home vent fan... at least tha...

Re: Total Renovation Possible?

the kwik set multipak, $35 TO $50 approx. depends on the finish, is a great set to use. 2 deadbolts, 2 regular locks, adjust to fit the two most common knob width settings (how far the knob is from the edge of the door) by twisting part of one part of the lock. or moving a little switch. (two types ...

Re: Vapor barrier under Floating Flooring?

the thickest mil plastic drop cloth on the rolls ( 6mil) has been used by some folks as a vapor barrier under the laminate flooring, but that was inside the mobile homes... it is very low cost, and can just be stapled to the floor, run up the walls slightly, you can even staple it to the wall there ...

I suspect either the fan switch got bumped from auto to run... if the thermostat is still wired like the swamp cooler is there, it may switch the fan on when the upper temperature is reached...
