Re: problems with new thermostat

When it cuts, does the outdoor unit stay on or start humming really loud? Like its defrosting constantly?

Re: problems with new thermostat

Tough to say but it's probably a setting in the thermostat. Some of these newer stats, especially the programmable ones and energy efficient ones have a lot more settings that change delays and what not. Do you have an exact model number you can provide?

Re: DGAA77

I found a manual online for this furnace as I am not familiar with it. It states that 5 Flashes would indicate a gas flow with no call for heat. If that's the case I would say your gas valve could be no good. There is a way to check it with a meter. I highly doubt the gas pressure was a problem so t...

Re: Replacing old Poly stuff with PEX, have ?

It's hard to find affordable USA made fittings nowadays. Perfect reason why I have been going the Homerun style for plumbing now. No joints buried, solid pipe from manifold to fixture and you can isolate from the manifold instead of installing shut off's at each fixture. A little more money, yes, bu...

Re: exhaust vent

Stuff some insulation in it. Unless you want to make it a project, leave it be if it isn't leaking or a big inconvenience to you.

Re: Replacing old Poly stuff with PEX, have ?

I prefer using the PEX Crimp Rings as well over any other style. Never had a problem unless I had the ring crimped on incorrectly but besides as long as you get it on right your good to go. Lowes came out with a One Hander Crimp Tool, like $70 I think it was but man, if you ever used the regular cri...

Re: Replacing old Poly stuff with PEX, have ?

There are a couple lawsuits against some the of the companies that make the brass fittings. I believe it is Zurn & Kitec. I had a bad experience using Sharkbite brand PEX tubing. I had it split on me in a house I did some re plumbing in. And it wasn't because it froze. I had sent a piece of it o...

Re: gas water heater leaking?

As much as I love these Sharkbite fittings I would agree that I would feel funny about putting them in a location that does not have easy access. The longest lasting ones I put on are about 6 years old that I used for my wife's parents shower. Granted they have access panel behind the shower. I even...

Re: gas water heater leaking?

That's a solder free coupling. You can try pushing it together with the CPVC pipe there to make sure it is on all the way. The pipe has to slide in that fitting deep enough for a proper seal. He could have also damage the o-ring seal inside that fitting too. Which in that case will need a new one.

Re: Old Coleman mod 3110-750 heater only

What is the one you are replacing? Is it 20va? I believe it would cause a problem such as over heating.

What I'm trying to say is that it should work for a temp solution but I'm pretty sure if it's that big a difference it will end up dying rather soon.

Re: whole home water filter

They can be wall mounted with a bracket. The one that I got did come with a mounting bracket to secure it for when you have to crank the housing off to change the filter. This is the one I have, its a heavy duty style uses bigger filters http://www.lowes.com/pd_221159-59019-WHKF-DWHBB(221159)_0__?pr...

Re: whole home water filter

I got a whole home filter from lowes. I buy the filters in bulk online. It does well for catching the sediment. But if your problem is scale, it's not going to improve a whole lot.

Re: Setting Up 1994 Mobile Home...Which HVAC System?

Heat pumps work well if you do not have a lot of steady weeks/days of below freezing temps. This last winter for me in the Northeast was brutal cold winter where temps stayed below freezing for weeks. My Heat Pump wasn't really keeping up so I had used my Gas Furnace a lot more. But the winter befor...
