Re: Duct Question

I know that as soon as the heat kicks off the ducts are warm to the touch. In about 5 minutes they are back to room temperature. The "popping" will start about three minutes after the heat kicks off and continues on for a good while. It never did this until about 9 months after I moved in....

Duct Question

I have a mobile home that has a central unit. The unit itself is quiet. However, in one spot of the home (right under the master bedroom) there is a continuous popping sound after the heat and a/c kick off. I took all the registers off to make sure that was not what I was hearing. Even then I still ...

Re: Accessing Ducts

They won't come back out. They told me that if I had any more issues that I had to contact the state.

Accessing Ducts

I have a 2010 single wide mobile home. In my master bedroom I have ducts underneath that knock loudly and for several minutes after the heater turns off. On days that the central unit doesn't run, I never hear any noise. I know then that it has to be the ducts rubbing against something while contrac...

HELP! Knocking noise underneath house!

I have a new Legacy single wide mobile home. Every time the heat kicks off, a few moments later it sounds like I have people underneath the floor beating on it. The sound will transfer from the floor to the wall. After realizing that I would get no help from the factory, I hired a contactor to come ...

Squeeeeek No More?

Everybody is saying how awesome this product is. Here is my question. If I don't hit a 2x6 joist, then is there a chance of hitting anything else? (pipes, a/c duct, ect) I've talked to people who used this in a mobile home, but how do you know what's right underneath?

Question About Floor Repair...

I bought a new Legacy mobile home back in February. Right off the bat I had a creaking/groaning/moaning sound. Turns out it was the plumbing straps that were holding the pipes in place. There were blocks around them to hold them in place during the construction phase. Legacy had to come out several ...

Moles, Ghosts, or Normal Settling?

I have a brand new single wide Legacy mobile home that's 6 months old. The wall in my bedroom pops sometimes. One morning I got up and walked into my utility room (adjacent to my bedroom, same wall) and walked on the floor next to the wall and seriously thought that something underneath my floor bro...

Mobile Home Door Repair

I have noticed that on the bottom of my combination exterior door, that the trim has peeled off at the bottom of the inside door. The trim I'm talking about is the part on the very bottom front that is supposed to keep drafts out. I don't know how it happened, but it did. Is this a part that can be ...

Re: Floor enders or lag screws?

Well today I went under the house and I found two metal beams going the length of the house. There were lag bolts going through the barrier but barely brushing up against the beams. I tried to tighten them, but there were already tight. The owner of the dealership gave me two options. He could send ...

Re: Floor enders or lag screws?

Thanks for the info guys! I should also be a little more specific. The sound is isolated to my master bedroom/bathroom. It is almost directly in the middle of the house. If I stay to either side, you don't hear anything. Anytime I walk from the bedroom to the bathroom, I can hear popping all under t...

Re: Floor enders or lag screws?

Thanks Greg. I'll tell them to come out and do it. After all, I just bought a brand new home from them. He was just making it seem like he would have to tear up the underbelly. He said with mobile homes, trying to fix issues can make more issues. It would if I tried to do it myself. A handy man I am...

Floor enders or lag screws?

I recently bought a new 2010 Legacy mobile home. There is an area of flooring in the master bedroom/bathroom that creaks. It's not a squeaking sound. It "moans" when you step on and off of this spot. It's approximately right in the middle of the home, the approximate location of the I-beam...

Light Coming Through

When I close my door there are places along the side that lets sunlight in and therefore air. I put some weatherstripping on that side. It works for most of the length of the door. However, I believe that part of the door may be warped or bent back a little bit. Therefore, I still have a couple of g...

Door Replacement

Is it possible to get a mobile home door without the entire unit. My jamb seems like it's in good shape as is the storm door. However, the regular door is not in good shape at all. The dealer that I just bought the home from says that it only comes as a unit and that the unit is difficult to replace...
