Re: Drywall - hole in ceiling repair
I am not sure ponch. I was not watching the guy. I will try and take some pictures and post. Thank you for your reply. Thank you also HouseMedic. Looks like he did a decent job but after everything dried hard, I see cracks.

Re: Drywall - hole in ceiling repair
Another question? The roofer did eventually send someone by to repair the hole in the ceiling. Now that everything has dried hard, I see some little cracks that I would like to cover up. What can I get to fill in some tiny cracks that I see? I see some other little tiny cracks in other parts of the ...

Re: Drywall - hole in ceiling repair
Another question guys? They installed ridge vents. Please explain to me in simple terms what this ridge vent does and why is it important to have on the roof? When the guy came by to give me an estimate on the roof, he said he would bring along the ridge vents and try to install them. He said he was...

Re: Drywall - hole in ceiling repair
Ok, thanks Norm, Greg, 1987Commodore, and HouseMedic, and ponch37300. Your replies were all extremely helpful. @ ponch37300, this was an an actual roofing contractor, not a handyman. There were 4 guys plus the one guy who was supervising the workers. @ HouseMedic, thanks for your reply. It was most ...

Re: Drywall - hole in ceiling repair
Thanks Norm. Here is the problem. I got the roof done at a great price so I feel somewhat guilty asking the roofer to repair the damage. Why type of repair person could do a job like this? Thanks for your reply.

Drywall - hole in ceiling repair
Hello my friends. I am back and I need some more advice. I live in a double-wide mobile home. While having new roof shingles put on, some sections of plywood were found wet underneath as the old shingles were being removed and these sections had to be replaced. One of the guys mis-stepped I think an...

Metal roof
Hi friends, I need some advice. I need to replace the roof on my mother's double wide mobile home. The home is 16 years old and has shingles on it. I am thinking about one of those metal roofs. A roofing guy came by and gave me an estimate of 7 grand to replace the existing shingles with new ones. I...

Re: Hi again everyone
Hi Greg, The techs can't really pocket anything extra because they do not accept cash. I wrote the guy a check for $350.00. I then went online several days later after my check had cleared and looked at the photo copy. The tech. even told me his boss wanted to charge me 20 dollars more but he was ab...

Re: Hi again everyone
Followup: I did go with Mr. Electric to replace the range vent hood and the 2 self contained rocker light switches. @Greg, you were correct btw. The problem with all the lights in the kictchen turned out to be the one bad switch in the kitchen. This switch was feeding power to two adjacent switches,...

Re: Hi again everyone
Yes the "mobile home" switches are cheap junk. They actually "pinch" the bare wires behind the switch, rather than using the attached screw connectors on standard house switches. "Scotch-lock" connectors are similar, if youve ever seen them. Over time the wire will rub...

Re: Hi again everyone
Ok, thanks Greg. Why do they even use the self contained rocker wall switches in mobile homes. I use to be able to replace the other ones myself? The electrician who came by to troubleshoot the problem told me the same thing that you said. Do they put these in mobile homes because they are cheap?

Re: Hi again everyone
Thanks bobfather99 and yes I agree with what you said. I am going to let a pro do the installation work. I just went by the local mobile home parts place today and picked up the two switches and the range vent hood. Thanks for your reply back.

Re: Hi again everyone
Thanks Greg. An industrial electrician I use to work with came by my house today and diagnosed the problem. It is a self contained rocker wall switch. All I need is for someone to come by and replace this switch for me and I have one more that is going bad also. I am going by the mobile home place t...
