Re: New Tankless Water Heater Install (PICS)
Almost forgot to let you all in on the deal I got on it. Normally from the supply house the contractor price is $1,350 - $1,500 depending on how well you can normally work the counter people over. I got this unit for $860. Now the for the vent kit & the isolation kit ran me about another $120. I...

Re: New Tankless Water Heater Install (PICS)
Finally got the electric bill! This is now with the water heater on for a full bill cycle. I went from $178 last year to $85 now!! Gas tank has went down 3% in about 1 1/2 months on use. And the price of electric from last year was only 1 cent higher. So basically I have seen around a $80 saving rig...

Re: New Tankless Water Heater Install (PICS)
Yea its a concentric vent kit intake and exhaust together. The exhaust is plastic also due to the lower flue temps its ok. I have propane for central heat also but the furnace is only 80%. So im thinkin of using a hydronic air handler cuz the tankless is big enough to heat my home and it retains its...

Re: New Tankless Water Heater Install (PICS)
Yes most do have a minimun pressure. This unit requires at least 50psi. It is off a well system and i measured the water pressure before hand and it was a steady 80psi. The good thing is I left my electric tank in place with the electric left in an given if there were to be a problem i simply turn a...

Re: Considering heat pump vs.ductless mini split system anyo
Mini-Split Ductless can see 20+ SEER ratings. The only concern I see would be the water pipes underneath which would now be away from the heat. Usually the leaky air ducts help by keeping the water pipes warm under the home. Ductless are nice and can be more efficient but they can be quite pricey. J...

New Tankless Water Heater Install (PICS)
Installed my new Tankless Water Heater over the weekend. My 50 gal electric had about a foot of sediment in it and the lower element would just burn up or constantly stay running. I was at the supply house when I spotted this unit sitting in a rough looking box. It had a dent on the top corner but d...

Re: Moisture Barrier trying to make sense of it
Right that makes sense to me. But what I don't get is I find a moisture barrier/a plastic vinyl on the ceiling and the appears one was laid throughtout the floor but yet nothing found on the walls that are exterior. Just a cardboard material on the inside behind the drywall. It goes Drywall/Cardboar...

Re: Moisture Barrier trying to make sense of it
I read some of the posts on here. My concern was if I have a vapor barrier on the interior already and I wrap the home on the exterior that would create a double vapor barrier which is bad from my understanding? Now given the Tyvec does breath so it won't trap moisture in it. Is that Tyvec considere...

Re: Moisture Barrier trying to make sense of it
Im sure they keep it bare minimum code. So if I had a vapor barrier on the inside and now I wrap the outside that wont cause any issues will it?

Re: Moisture Barrier trying to make sense of it
Reason why I'm curious is because this class action was filed in 2009 and my home was built sometime early in 2009.

Moisture Barrier trying to make sense of it
After tracking down a water leak I had above my rear door I did remove some siding and I noticed there is no house wrap. I did cut a small section of drywall out inside and found that there is a layer of cardboard like material behind the drywall. Apparently this is the moisture barrier? Just want t...

Re: Aqua PEX plumbing
I use it all the time. All my builders I do work for, I do HVAC. But the plumbers that work for him all use PEX systems on manifolds. Basically homeruns so there are less joints which could possibly leak & a more even water distribution with the manifold. The most debated thing with PEX is what ...

Try a 3500 Watt one. 5500 watt sounds like its too much for that water heater.

Re: Radiant Floor Heating?
I've done radiant in many conventional homes before, but not a mobile home. I've never installed it as a primary source of heat. More like a comfort add-on to warm the floors in the winter for your bare feet. If properly installed it can be used as a primary source of heat. However, there are someth...
