It don't matter if it is a Mobile Home or a Portable Shed... It really helps to have supports at the door because there ain't no wall at the door to hold the roof up, so the house sags there first. That is what makes the door be crooked and not shut properly. Here is one post you can refer to... htt...

I don't think the skirting has to be totally air tight. Just having it there will help some. It ain't like you are living under the house. The heat from the ground, about 58*F will help some. Also you want to make sure there ain't no Propane furnaces that might build up under there. Be sure to put a...

They have an assortment of Vent Fans at Lowes. Loud, Quiet or with fancy lights. Just make sure the Electric Power in Watts is about the same. AFTER you turn the power OFF, you can take out your old Vent Fan, and take it with you to the hardware store. They are used to seeing that. For your hot wate...

Two Specific Dangers Exist The flame and intense heat in a confined space. If anything is close, the radiant heat could ignite it. Second: CARBON MONOXIDE - Carbon Monoxide is odorless and colorless. Dogs like to be under the house because they know the people are in the house. Dogs like to be where people are. If you can, you might put their dog house closer to the house, close to the back door. Since it is winter, make sure the dog house is warm. You might rig up a light bulb for heat in there...

You got a couple weeks till the floor gets weak. So just pay attention to see if it gets soft. If it does, save up and buy some 3/4 inch plywood. Till then, do like they said above, keep the floor dried out and put some fans in there to dry it out. In the summertime, we take the skirting off our hou...

Unless the home is really unlevel, you can try this... On each side of an exterior door, there should be a stack on concrete blocks. The blocks should have a 2x8 piece of pressure treated hardwood and maybe a wooden wedge or two. These Piers support the weight because the door is heavy and lots of h...

There is also Synthetic Wood on the Market now. It is wood chips and recycled plastic molded into wood shape. These manufacturers often have design plans so you can use their boards to make your porch. One caveot' is the fake wood is not always good for framing because it don't support the weight. S...

Parts for older mobile homes are not always the same as parts for regular houses. So, when you go to Lowes, read the box. To get to the shower parts, you might have to remove the little fake wood trim molding, then remove the paneling. I like to turn off the water at the meter, and turn off power to...

Those straps hold the frame to the ground. So don't worry, even if the house blows away, the frame will stay there so you can find it. The straps CAN stretch. You might look in the Yellow Pages for a licensed mobile home installer. They may have someone come out and put all new straps on there for t...
