Why are faucets so sensitive with temperature adjustment?
I have three brand new faucets installed in my mobile home that are ultra sensitive when it comes to adjusting the temperature. It seems that moving the handle one or two millimeters will change the water from ultra hot to cool. There doesn't seem to be much middle ground for temperatures in between...

Where to place propane wall heaters?
My mobile home is about 900 square feet and I'm trying to decide the best place to locate two new propane wall heaters. They will be 20,000 BTU and each cover roughly 500 square feet. The master bedroom is on one end of the house, and my office is on the other end. Should I put one in each room? Or ...

Re: The cursed electrical outlets!
technoz1, I have never seen these wire connectors before that you have mentioned. The next time you are replacing one of your outlets, can you take a photo so I can see where these connectors fit in? Normally the romex connects right to the electrical outlet's screws on the back....right?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: The cursed electrical outlets!
Why doesn't any company make plastic electrical boxes that are designed for mobile home walls? Seems like they would have quite the business if they did.

Mobile home bathroom vanities
Has anyone found a really good website that sells bathroom vanities? I realize that the big box stores like Home Deport sell them, but so far I haven't seen anything that will work for my layout. Maybe I should hire a local cabinetry shop to make up something from scratch?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: The cursed electrical outlets!
This is good advice. But what exactly is an "old work" style box? Are those the kind that are made of plastic and have to be anchored to a 2x4 stud?Greg wrote:I go with "old work" style boxes, add a short pig tale a use the screws to make tight connections.
Thanks!

The cursed electrical outlets!
I about cut myself today trying to replace one of those "mobile home" electrical outlets behind my fridge. Holy crap that thing is difficult to use. Can anyone suggest a good website that shows how I'm supposed to pierce the electrical wire on the metal contacts and make this thing work? U...

Re: What kind of caulk do you recommend for trim?
But silicone caulk can't be painted or sanded, right? So how do you use silicone in baseboards and door trim?

Re: What kind of caulk do you recommend for trim?
It wasn't almost died out, but it was hard to work with. Is the 50/50 acrylic and silicone much easier to work with? What is your favorite brand and type?

What kind of caulk do you recommend for trim?
I was using some adhesive caulk today, which contains no silicone, to caulk around the door trim of all the doors. I found it very hard to work with, almost crumbly, and I think I'm not using the right kind. It did say on the package it was good for trim and baseboards. Is the 50/50 acrylic and sili...

Re: Weather strip under door
As you can see from this close up photo, there is a little notch in the aluminum threshold. Is this where a rubber piece may have been one time in the past? I wish I was at my mobile home now, but I'm 4 hours away and trying to figure out what I need so I can get this fixed the next time I go up. Th...

Weather strip under door
I had some rain come in under my front door during a recent rain storm, so I bought a weatherstrip at Home Depot. It mounts to the front side of the door, and has a rubber piece that keeps the water out. There is also a water deflector thingy that should help divert the water away from attempting to...

Light switches that grip the back side of drywall
I have a few electrical outlets and light switches that are being very stubborn. They are the type that grip the back side of the drywall with plastic clips as you tighten the screws. Most of them around the house work fine, but a few are giving me problems. I pull the electrical component out of th...
