Re: Underbelly insulation question....

Hi

I don't know anyone who has used Reflectix for the underbelly. I suppose it would do to patch a spot.

I prefer the black woven polyethylene. http://www.mobilehomerepair.com/underbelly.htm

Re: Hot water heater

Hi

My bride and I have a 30 gal. We like it fine. And when the rest of the tribe comes to visit ....no problem.

I replace heaters once they get 10 years old..... preventive maintenance is less expensive I think.

Our currect electric WH has 2 elements...fast recovery.

Re: Sterling Shower Stall

Hi JD

Thanks for the reply.

The base has no foam. The instructions say to NOT use plaster, gypsum cement, or drywall compound for the mortar.

The flange - I need to cover it up with something water proof.

Sterling Shower Stall

Hi
A while ago JD recommended a Sterling Advantage™ Tile Seated Shower unit…..I think it was. I went to HD recently to look at one and I think we’ll get one.

Here’s some questions I have…at this time:
1. How do you make the correct mortar base?
2. What material to use to frame the flanges?

Re: New old TV

Yo

Sounds like a good deal to me.

Question: My bride recently bought us a big flat screen ...lightweight TV. I noticed some heat coming off the TV ...if you hold your hand near it. Does this mean it uses a lot of power?

Re: Showers and tile

Hi

If you want to give it a try I'd use HardiBacker Cement Board. Here's a link:

Here's the installation instructions: http://www.jameshardie.com/homeowner/pd ... all-us.pdf

Let us know how you make out.

Re: Relevel - Questions

Hi

No need for the workers to come inside.

Call MH dealers in your area and get some info and phone numbers.

You want them to use a water level....not a carpenters level.

Re: Where to start remodel--what order

Hi You asked "should we put new floor on top of old floor and just fix the really soft spots or tear up all the floor??" . I had a neighbor in South Florida that was disabled and short on money and the floor started falling through in several spots. Their MH is/was an old beater. They had ...

Re: How do you know?

Hi

"Feel it" is OK....in my opinion.

When my sisters boy comes over the dishes rattle....and my floors are plywood and super strong and the MH is a good install. He must weigh 500 pounds.

Re: How do you know?

Hi

How much weight are you talking?

A healthy floor feels solid when a 300 pound person walks on it.

Re: Where to start remodel--what order

Hi

I would make a trip down under and fix anything found there........then check for level........then make sure all leaks are fixed such as the roof and windows......then anything structural.....then the cosmetics.

JMHO
