Re: What's the best way to clean skirting?

An extension pole for higher areas, Simple Green diluted with water and 2 brushes. One hand brush for lower areas and a screw on pole brush. Now the bad part. You start scrubbing OR a neighborhood kid who wants to earn some cash. A pressure washer is out of the question for skirting or siding becaus...

Re: sun room addition

Also consider the weather. If you are in Hurricane areas you will want a stronger, more substantial structure. A light weight aluminum structure might not remain after a storm, but end up across the street.

Re: Painting Aluminum Siding And Skirting

You might check out "Valspar Duramax", brown and gold label. Got mine at home Depot. I use it on vinyl siding and it is amazing. also recommended for aluminum. Drys hard. Might be a couple of bucks more then cheaper stuff but darn well worth it. self priming, but might need a second coat d...

Re: Loud popping noises

Does the sound seem to come from the floor, walls or ceiling? You said "One side then the other". Do you feel something through you feet when the popping starts? Or just hear it? How often does it pop? It might Sound stupid, but use a drinking glass and put your ear to it and press it agai...

Re: Frustrated with window film!

imarja9999 Thanks for the information. There are 9 38X48 double hung standard stick built home windows on the porch. I am getting a table saw (wanted one for a while) and will make 9 exterior storm windows. I considered Plexiglas type material for the top and bottom half of the storms, with a center...

Re: Electrical information web site referal?

Thanks Greg. I should have picked up the book at HD the other day.
I used to have a bunch of these types of books, but got ride of them when we decided to go RVing as full timers, but that dream died. Never get rid of ANYTHING, because you'll want it later and the price will be higher.
Thanks again.

Electrical information web site referal?

Can you recommend or suggest a good web site that has a forum for electrical questions and answers? I know you can't do it here due to liability.

Re: sound deadening for interior wall?

When do you hear the "Tingy" sounds? I something hitting them or is it when you PARTAY? On steel buildings I've seen them coat the girders with what looks like thick bubbly white foam "Stuff". Possibly a heavy coat of Spray Foam. Costly though. You can buy kits as a DIY. 2 tanks ...

Re: sound deadening for interior wall?

:) Well, today the guy came and installed my DW's new wall. 5/8" Sheetrock on each side of a 2x6, staggered 2x4"'s wall with Johns Manville 6-1/2" acoustic/thermal insulation on BOTH SIDES. Talk about being packed. Packed in because we don't car about heat insulation, just sound. BOY,...

Re: sound deadening for interior wall?

I got a pack of Johns Manville R-19 for thermal and sound control. 87 sqft. 9 bats. To completely sound proof a wall is costly and elaborate, like a recording studio. With 5/8 Sheetrock on either side of the 6" thick, 2 x 4 double stud wall it should do just fine. Then comes the Vinyl Allure fl...

sound deadening for interior wall?

I'm dividing our sun porch in half with a 10' x 8' wall. I get a half for a new shop and the wife gets a new sitting room. She want it to be QUIET. sort of. I'm staggering 2 x 4 studs on a 2" x 6" floor and sealing plates with some king of insulation. Heat insulation is not the problem, ju...
