RE: Yanita and forum staff, we had a pleasant surprise!!

:D :D :D Our back porch is finally finished!!! WOW it is absolutely wonderful. In keeping with Mark's manual, it is not attached to the siding of the house, but is built just under the roof (pitched and almost looks like an A-frame) and has a nice clear line of caulk running from the support beams t...

RE: Yanita and forum staff, we had a pleasant surprise!!

:D Construction has started!!! YAY. Two days ago the crew came out and dug the footers and started the frameup. Work was a little slow yesterday because the footers had to be inspected by the county inspector before concrete could be poured. He didn't show up until after 12 noon, but as soon as he g...

YAY, the contractor came by yesterday and said the materials will be delivered today. Construction is supposed to start Tuesday. Needless to say, my husband is totally excited. You'd think we were building the Taj Mahal!!! :)

Thanks, Yanita. I keep reminding myself that this is the south and we do things a little bit slower down here!!! LOL. I'm sure eventually it'll get done but I really hope it gets done in time for us to enjoy it THIS year. :)

RE: Yanita and forum staff, we had a pleasant surprise!!

:( I was right. The contractor still hasn't started our porch. It was due to start on Tuesday of this week, but he called to say he was finishing up another project that got delayed due to rain. Now the start date has been moved to next week. Since rain is in the forecast, who knows when it wi...

RE: question on park rules

I found this little blip when I looked for info regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act and service dogs. It looks like people who need a service dog are allowed to have that dog anyplace it is needed. I can't imagine a MHP could deny a disabled person the right to have a service dog. http://w...

RE: Tin can is all mine now

 Congratulations on your full ownership. The best feeling I ever had in my life was paying off our home and car debt. Of course, now we're spending big time on fixing stuff and adding stuff, but it still feels good to not owe, owe, owe. :)

RE: Happy Easter

Hey, Greg. Sorry to hear your son is going to Afghanistan. Our son has been there twice and was scheduled to be there now until his neck got broken in a combat training exercise. Thankfully there was no damage and the breaks in his neck were discovered in time to protect his spinal cord. He had surg...

RE: Yanita and forum staff, we had a pleasant surprise!!

 I'm reallllllly happy now!!! The back door is in and looks like it should have been there all the time. I'm tickled pink. We have to go back to Virginia near the end of next week and hopefully the second week of April the construction gang will show up and build our porch. Unlike my husband, I...

RE: Yanita and forum staff, we had a pleasant surprise!!

:D :D Oh, no, you guys have certainly done nothing wrong. Almost everything we've done here has been with the help of the topics and advice on the forum. Yanita, we put in the back door to lead out of the master to the (hopefully soon to be built) screened porch and deck that will be on the back of ...

It does make us feel better knowing its survived hurricane force winds, etc., but not good enough to stay if an evacuation order is issued  .

Yanita and forum staff, we had a pleasant surprise!!

:D ----> That's my big smile!! We opened up the back of our house yesterday to put in a back door so construction can start on a screened back porch in a few weeks. WOW -- what a nice surprise!! Our home is an '85 horton dw and we've never lived in a mobile before, so it has been an interesting expe...
