I'm going to be in New Hartford, Greg. The home is in a park, at least for now.

That's what I went with, Norm, and I'm moving to Central NY from VT. Hopefully here in NY permanently before long.

Re: Skirting Vents?
The job was finally done today, the rain has been holding us back, I opted for the vented, and will use the insulation board behind it this winter. Insulated would have been great, but it wasn't in the budget at this time, and I may be kicking myself for that compromise when winter rolls around.

Thank you all for the feedback, weather permitting, the skirting will be done this week, then on to the painting, and hopefully I can get some photos up soon!

Re: Skirting Vents?
Although that was an interesting read, I think I'll stick with the standard. The power vents look interesting too, that may be something for another year.

Re: Skirting Vents?
Thanks for the input, everyone! I have read this forum for hours at a time, and his advice seemed odd to me, after having read so many posts here. I really appreciate everyone's willingness to jump in and offer advice/help/suggestions to a complete mobile home newbie. The home is not on a full slab,...

Skirting Vents?
I just called a local mobile home parts store to inquire about skirting. He gave me a price and I asked if it was vented, his response was no..and he went on to say that up here (Utica, NY area) it causes problems in the winter. This goes against everything I have read here regarding skirting, which...

Re: Roof Question
That makes sense, I can see why he would prefer them.
I did ask, and he said the architectural are heavier, and would withstand winters/weather better than the three tab.

Re: Roof Question
Thank you, ponch. The estimate is $3700 and I have no idea if that's good or not. The first one was $6000. The home is a 1996 Pine Grove, and otherwise in good shape, it just needs a bit of paint on walls. From what you are saying, I would guess the three tab might actually be more labor intensive a...

Roof Question
Metal roofing is not allowed in the community where I purchased my home. The contractor wants to use architectural shingles, not the three tab..is there much benefit to this and is it worth the extra cost?
My apologies for all the questions, I am a first time mh owner working on a budget.

Re: Advice on Skylights
Thank you, everyone, I am going to get rid of them, the light is nice, but a nightmare down the road is not worth the risk. @countrydan, yes, I am going with the water & ice shield. Now to find someone who doesn't want an arm and a leg to do the job! The park requires shingles so any other type ...
