RE: Can you tell if this is OSB ? Paintable ?

You could maybe get away with it... Maybe you could seal the floor with some waterproofer first, then prime it and paint it. That would only add about $8 to your cost. If you don't get that floor sealed first water and moisture will make it bump-up. On the other hand, it would be a smooth enough sur...

RE: Speaking of painting floors...

Well, I'm finally finished. Here are some pictures of the end product. Again, I am very happy with this floor-painting-thing. Sure looks great for plywood... Anyway - here is my new kitchen - (total cost - about $85) http://mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/userpix/1743_100_0508_1.jpg http://mobilehomerepa...

RE: Can you tell if this is OSB ? Paintable ?

Looks like particle board to me. I can't say how well it would work as a painted floor. You would definitely want to prime it good first. Also, IMO I would not paint a floor with Latex, but that's just me. I don't think it would be tough enough. You would have to coat it with a clear poly. If you ar...

FTA (free-to-air) Satellite TV... anyone?

I am in the "country" and only get a few local digital stations. A friend told me about FTA satellite. It appears that there are quite a few "free" satellite broadcasts available to anyone with the right equipment. Of course they are not the standard channels you would get on pay...

RE: Couple of landscaping projects

Looks very nice. I wish I could get that far along in my list of projects. I have so many repair and refurbish projects in line that I can't begin to think about gardens yet.

Nice work!

Moving on to the border and checkers... In this step I am painting the 2" border around the perimeter of the room. http://mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/userpix/1743_100_0501_1.jpg In this pic I have begun stamping 6" squares. I used Black gloss oil-based paint. I am not attempting to make any...

RE: Speaking of painting floors...

Thanks Trudi - At first I didn't care for the Green. I know that the Green-Tan combo is weird, but after having it for a few days I love it. The checkered floor should really help tie it together. Here are the next pics. (BTW - I have uploaded full size pics to my personal Album, but I can't seem to...

To ledger or not...

I am getting ready to build a 12'w x 6'd porch (with roof) on the front of my house. Should I ledger it or should I build it free standing? Seems like a 2x10 ledger would sure be a lot easier than back legs...

FYI - My house sits on sand, so I will use 4x4 deck blocks either way.

RE: Speaking of painting floors...

Cabinets and walls have been finished. The green is brighter than I thought it would be, but my goal was a colorful house - I think the green is certainly colorful... Floor has been mostly primed and now that walls and cabinets are finished I can start dealing with it. I think I am going to co...

Speaking of painting floors...

I posted the progress and results of my floor painting experiment a short while back. I was on a tight budget and was tired of waiting to be able to afford flooring... so I discovered floor painting and tried it on my bathroom. I was very happy with the results and so I decided to redo my entire kit...

RE: painting a floor

Hi Staci - I just recently painted my guest bathroom floor and (IMO) it came out GREAT. I am very happy with it. So much that I am in the middle of painting my entire Kitchen, including the floor. Other people use water based paints and then Poly-coat the floor. I just used tinted Oil-based Outdoor ...
