RE: Shower stall recomendations

The subject of mobile home repair shows have come up on the forum numerous times over the years! It would be an awesome sight to see. Mark has been approached a time or two, but if I remember right, it was nothing he wanted to be involved in. Just like the reality show, mobile homes are still the bu...

RE: Windows

If you're on a budget right now, and a lot of us are these days! See if you can remove just the frame of the slider and take it to a window shop to have the glass replaced. That's the cheapest option I know of unless you know how to cut glass and do it yourself. Most glass and window companies don't...

RE: NEWBIE!! Bathroom in ruins help!!

I have to agree with JD on the mold problem! That's quite extensive from the photos. Without hiring a mold expert to come in and test, you may be putting your health at risk! As JD mentioned, remove the wall board and any insulation, just as he suggested! Please use a mask when working in this area,...

RE: Welcome back Yanita!

Hey Yanita! Glad you had a great trip! Sounds like you all had a blast! I'm LOL at the river rock! Right now, we're so dry out here that we can drive right into the rivers and pick up rock. That's what 83 days with out any precip will do! Some of our rivers are down to a trickle right now. Wish I ha...

Huge football fan here also! Unfortunately, I'm a 49er fan... have been since the early 60's. Okay, so once again it's not looking like it's their year LOL! Oh well! We also really enjoy college football here. Both the U of Oregon and th U of Nevada Reno have done pretty well over the last few years...

RE: Purchasing a used MH

Hi Jon, I really agree with JD on this, especially in your circumstances right now! You've already gone through enough with the former home. You sure don't need any more problems. Please spend a few bucks and hire an inspector. Even if something turns up after you sign the papers, you'll still know ...

RE: Quick question mold

Hi Barbara, The mold smell can be coming from anywhere! It may be a slow leak somewhere! It might be your insulation that is moldy, it could be the underside of your subfloor, or as Harry mentioned, it could be a joist! There are numerous areas where water can leak in our homes and cause mold. You n...

RE: Windows

I have to agree with Greg on this one. Take the money and put it in the structure of your home first. New windows will actually save you money in the long run! If you just don't have another option right now, any window shop should be able to replace the glass in the sliders. Just pop them out and t...

Hello, welcome to the forum! I can't give you a lot of help with your roof because I'm not expert in roof repair at all! I do have a feeling that the tuff r foam may add to condensation to the roof. I'd use the bat insulation instead. I'm sure someone else will come along with more information soon!...

RE: door knobs

As Greg said, welcome to the forum and to the family! One more tip. if you plan on installing dead bolts, make sure that your door frame is in really good shape. Otherwise, you're just wasting money. A deadbolt is only as good as the door frame. Dead bolts can be installed on the out swing metal doo...

RE: Shower stall recomendations

Hi Lorne, I fully understand the shower issue! We have the same shower in the guest/boy bath room. I absolutely hate it, but it was seldom used before we moved in. Even after 8 years, it's still in great shape except for the door. That now needs to be replaced. One of the boys is about 6'4" and...

RE: Cold flooring in winter?

Hi Lacey, This is a real problem area for those of us that live with cold temps during the Winter! Most of us know that hitting those vinyl bathroom floors in the morning are a real wake up call! Better that a cup of coffee to wake ya up! Yeah, slipper would help, but I'm a bare foot sort of old gir...

RE: Electric furnace cheaper than a propane furnace these da

Basically, the cost depends on your area of the world! In some areas propane is still real cheap, other's natural gas is cheaper, and still other's electric is cheaper. In my area, all heating products are outrageous right now! We've done the math over the last few years. We have a natural gas furna...

Hey lefties, good to see you again! Now, you haven't placed your profile on line, so I'm working on my old memory here. Didn't you recently buy a new place? Correct me if I'm wrong! Anyway, here's my theory on venting. If you're in a park, you can pretty much go with the recommended square foot rule...

RE: Recommendation, please, for washer dryer combo or stacke

Hi plumducky, welcome to the forum! When we moved out of our stick built 12 years ago, we left our washer and dryer behind. We had to move into a single wide for a year until we found this place. The laundry room was tiny! We bought a whirlpool unit that was either stackable or could be used side by...
