Re: Vinyl Upholstered Ceiling Beams??

I seriously doubt those are from the manufacturer, but either way, they're not structural.

Those are there to cover the seams of the ceiling panels. If you remove the vinyl, you should be able to see the screws that hold the beams up.

Covering panelling with paintable wallpaper.

If you're going to do so, fill the paneling seams with silicon, level it to the wall, wait 1 day, then repeat.

If you don't, after a full cycle of the seasons, the wallpaper will shrink into the paneling cavity and will be noticeable.

Re: Crossover duct

Provided that the ducting to the room is ok, you could get a register booster fan. It's an electric fan that sits on top of the register and consumes very little electricity, but will draw more air out of the duct.

Re: insulating the floor and skirting?

Hi Dan. I live just East of you in Southern Alberta, so I know all about the long cold winter's "up here". I'm about 90% finished my mobile reno which included replacing the whole kitchen, adding a second bathroom, installing laminate throughout, moving/removing walls, drywalling over the ...

Re: Defective relay?

Thanks Bill.

The furnace is only two years, and the connectors are tight.

I'm going to replace the relay that I believe is causing the issue. I'm also going to order another board from Mark and use my current one as a back-up.

Defective relay?

Hello. Nordyne M1B 090A AW. Problem: Intermittent no start with a buzzing/clicking sound. Tapping lightly just about anywhere on the board, causes the system to start. Seems like a defective relay. Questions: Short of replacing the board, is there any way I can determine if the issue is actually on ...

Re: Carpet Vs Laminate in the Breakfast Area

I can't imagine why someone would want carpet in a breakfast nook.
How about how about laminate with an area rug under the table?

Re: Furnace way to loud. Moving it back 3 feet.

Robert, I found a post of yours from a few years back in which you stated: Unimpeded airflow isn't the main concern. All furnaces have an exact amount of return airflow that is needed to operate as designed and lessen wear and damage to system. It cannot be more or less airflow, but must be the same...

Re: Arid climate. Do I need to wrap the floor insulation?

Thanks Greg.

Well, the perimeter is completely sealed, other than the close-able screened vents. I don't think I'll bother with the wrap.

Re: Furnace way to loud. Moving it back 3 feet.

Thanks for the reply Robert. The noise isn't due to a malfunction, it's just the typical blower "wind" noise. It wasn't too bad when I had carpet throughout, but I replaced it all with laminate. The furnace is in the hall and inset into a room that I've got mostly gutted. To reduce the lab...

Arid climate. Do I need to wrap the floor insulation?

Hello. MY MH is 30 years old, and has a full length, ten year old addition built across the whole front. The MH and addition are 30" above the ground (no concrete pad), but the additions yellow fiberglass is exposed. However, the insulation is in excellent condition. Given the arid climate here...

Furnace way to loud. Moving it back 3 feet.

I had my 30 year old furnace replaced with a new one. The old one was extremely loud and I assumed the new one would be quieter. I was wrong. Even at the lowest speed, I have to crank the tv volume when the furnace turns on, then turn it down when the furnace kicks off. I'm thinking of wiring in an ...

Re: Waste Lines rework

Hi Ron. I recently purchased a 70's mobile that has a full length 10 year old stick addition all across the front. The whole thing was then covered with a typical shingled roof. I dry walled the MH half (vertical only), and installed a whole new bathroom and kitchen. I also installed a second bathro...

Great. Thanks!

It's been about 12 hours since I "tapped" that relay, and the furnace hasn't faulted so far.
