What the heck I'll try.
1- no base for blocks
2-need 4 blocks with the 2nd row in opposite direction
3-Solid blocks
4- All wood blocks the same size as the blocks running the same direction as the frame members.

Re: Removing countertops
Many of our cabinets etc were joined using those horrible Square Drive Screws. Like hanging the cabinets to the wall in the kitchen, though ours was built 21 years ago. I would try to crawl inside a cabinet with a flashlight and look to see if there are some screws. If not then they are probably glu...

Re: exterior painting
My house is 21 years old with original Vinyl siding and I painted it over a year ago. i used Valspar exterior. The one recommended for vinyl. Two coats and it's hard as a rock. Cheaper then new vinyl. http://www.valspar.com/products/product/Medallion_Exterior_Paint.html They changed the name since I...

Re: New Interior Door
If the heater/cooling system doesn't get enough return air from all the rooms then it will draw air from outside the house from anywhere it can, like wall plug openings and cracks around doors or windows. Our previous house had the gas heater in the utility room and the wife always wanted the door c...

Re: Heating a Mobile Home
Before you spend a lot of money on a pellet stove I might suggest have your system checked for duct leaks and as was suggested, any openings in your skirting. It is easy to lose a ton of heat through leaks in the ducting. Like the joints between the 2 halves of your home, if it is a double wide. We ...

Re: Bending strength of PB vs PEx pipe
I know I'm a little late, but I saw these brackets a while back for bending PEX to a large radius 90 Degree angle.

I couldn't find them locally and work around my problem. I didn't want to bend my 22 year old PB too much. Hope this helps someone.

Re: Adding exterior underlayment?
Some really good food for thought and Yanita brings up a good point about the thickness adding to the outside dimensions, fatter house. Thanks all.
Our heating bill would be a lot higher if it weren't for the upgraded heat pump.
Summer is coming, OH BOY.

Re: Adding exterior underlayment?
Thanks for the input. There have been reports of utility bills doubling down here using Santee Cooper, but the radio report didn't go into much detail. Other reports are that if "Cap & Trade" were to become fact that everyone would pay through the nose. Right now this is only from poli...

Adding exterior underlayment?
I had posted this on another thread talking about electrical costs, but deleted it and started a new thread. I feel lucky cause our bill only jumped $20, from $137 this month last year to $157 this year. Here in SC some bills have doubled on some folks. Our double wide has NO exterior underlayment, ...

Re: Paper or Firberglass???
I've used the Mesh Tape in all my dry Walling work (amateur) .
One Pro I read says that, mesh cracks easier then paper, so all he uses is Paper. He does thousands of feet a year. Mesh is ok for patch repair he says. It is also cheaper i think for the pros.

Do you like showers or tubs? or both?
The 2nd bathroom has a one-piece tub/shower combo, which is 23 years old with a slight soft spot in the center bottom. We already have a large shower in the main bathroom. Is a bath tub still as popular as it was years ago? I would like to have a new one installed but I know we are looking a big buc...

Handy electrical tester
I saw this on "Holmes on Homes", a Canadian tv series on home repair and remodeling. http://www.service.kleintools.com/CGI-BIN/LANSAWEB?WEBEVENT+R011C883B1905A500F9BA014+PRD+ENG I paid around $15 a Home Depot and it is great. The tip is rectangular so it fits right into a wall plug or you ...

Someone must have polluted the Gene Pool.
Maybe they'll come out with a Budweiser and Coors 12 Pack siding. Giter Done.
