Re: Skirting
I used pressure treated 4 X 4's on the dirt to attach my skirting track to. I drilled 1/2" holes 6" from the each end and used 24" lengths of 1/2" rebar to secure them to the ground. Sledgehammers aren't just for demolition! Then put sod right up to the 4 X 4's on the outside to ...

Re: Skirting
We installed Rapid Wall insulated skirting about a year and a half ago - and it's GREAT! Pricey, but no blowouts and the weed whacker doesn't faze it. Got it from a MH supply place (General Supply) in Indianapolis. Their website has a photo gallery for the stuff. I'll never use anything else again! ...

As for the scrolling lines...I haven't figured that one out, either.

Re: Electric cable
We had what Greg described. When we moved last year I had about 20' of cable from their disconnect box to my breaker box. I cut it and sold it for scrap - made $68 on the copper (but got the 3rd degree from the scrapyard, who wanted ID information!).

The 16" spacing is for MH as well as stick built. The joists run side to side (width way).
This is a wonderful product!

I have a 16 X 80, and I have 10 automatic vents installed. About $16 each at Lowes. The open automatically at a set temperature, and likewise close when it's cold. Install 'em and forget 'em!

Re: insurance on a MH
Ours is also with Allstate (auto, home, life, umbrella) and is for replacement cost - since a MH depreciates I'd hate to get stuck with the actual cash value of an older home. Replacement cost premiums are more, but well worth it in the event of fire, tornado, flood, etc.

Re: Renovation Advice
We moved our MH last October and I had it set 48" off the ground so I'd have room to get under it and work with more room. Because of the height I looked for better skirting, and ended up with Rapid Wall skirting - 2" insulated vinyl - and it's great. Very strong, no blowouts, no warping, ...

Vapor Barrier
OK, now that I've moved the MH, I hear it's a good idea to put a vapor barrier under it. Couple of questions - 1. My concrete runners are side - to - side with about 10 feet in between them. Do I have to cover the runners as best I can as well as the dirt between? 2. Any particular thickness of plas...

I just put 4 new exterior doors in a stick home - had to buy them with the fames but just discarded the frames. Should work just fine in a MH, too!

Re: Storage in crawlspace?
Greg mentioned that a storm shelter would be a good plan - we put one UNDER our MH when we moved it last Fall - got it from this place - http://www.cozycaverns.com/ We had to drive to Arkansas to pick it up (pickup truck with a flatbed trailer), but it's in place and is our hedge against a tornado. ...
