RE: Bail-Out Bonuses

Watch the ripple effect from the auto makers. They will force the unionized worker to take major cuts which will then filter down to all sectors especially non unionized workers. The little guy will have his standard of living reduced across north America. Then when auto sales take off again in 3-5 ...

RE: Bail-Out Bonuses

Ah yes!

What ever happened to the good old days of debtors prison.

That would help curb the overuse by modern society of easy credit.

RE: Advice for not a do-it-yourselfer?

I have a much different opinion on poison based on personal experience. Several years ago I had a serious mouse problem at my cottage. I tried every form of non lethal trapping I could and snap traps. In one 3 day period I live traped 32 mice inside. I found out by marking them that they returned th...

RE: Bail-Out Bonuses

JD Keep in mind those wall street execs. that created this mess are the same ones that are needed to fix it (or there boys club replacements). If you don't grease the right wheel you can not hope to fix the problem and fixing a big problem requires a lot of grease. Although from our view this sounds...

RE: Batten Corners

They are the wood or plastic strips that cover seams and corners of paneling.
In the case of Board and batten vertical siding they are the narrow wood strips that overlap the butt joint between the wide boards.

RE: Getting out

It is definitely time to get out before the value of your home is pulled down by the growing bad reputation that your community is going to experience. It is unfortunate and most likely the owner will turn around and sell the park at an overly inflated value forcing the next owner to raise fees as w...

RE: Getting out

Jim What fees and charges do you have beyond lot rent. Does he give reasons for increases or does he just arbitrarily increase rates. What response did the board come back with to support the landlord. Is the owner relatively new and trying to pocket higher profits. Is the park up to date on it's fe...

From the details of your story I assume you must live somewhere in the boonies with no neighbors for miles around.
The privacy must be nice.

RE: Batten Corners

If you remove the battens you will have to replace them with a metal corner bead designed to be used with mud to protect the corner and to achieve a straight corner. They are installed with nails or drywall screws and the drywall compound is applied to blend them into the wall.

RE: Carpet

Cut it larger than the room, stretch and hook onto carpet strips then trim excess along wall. You will need a "kicker" (I think that is it's name) to stretch the carpet.

RE: Kitchen faucet problem

The fact that you are getting water initially is a clear indication that there is a partial blockage in the line. When the tap is off the water pressure forces the water past the blockage and builds the pressure between the blockage and the tap. When the tap is turned on that water is forced out but...

RE: Steam Clean Carpet or Lay Down Vinyl ?

In the long term you would probably be much happier having your puppy if you sought the assistance of a vet or professional dog trainer in house breaking your pup. That way you could replace the carpet when ready with the flooring of your choice not his choice.

RE: Insulating Skirting

Mark I have had numerous discussions regarding insulating under a home. Some swear by skirting insulation without any under floor insulation. They argue that there is a benefit gained in warmth from the ground that would be otherwise partially blocked by insulating the floor if the skirting is also ...

RE: Bad neighbours, bad landlord

It's a shame when the tenants have to do the landlords job. It sounds like you need a new owner. You could also try as a group to flood the super with complaints to make her life miserable and maybe get her to quit allowing one of the group to take over the job. Is the super the one taking in all th...

RE: Fleas in the Yard

Best product on the market I know of for pets is Advantage. Using it properly it kills any fleas that get on them and will rid your house of all fleas over a period of a few weeks. Problem with spraying is it does not kill the eggs and seldom effects larva stage.
It is available at Vet's.
