Re: New roof on an old double wide?

I would have a truss company come look at it and instead of tearing off the old roof--they can design a truss that would work with your current roof. I do not know much about double wides but I assume that if you took off the current roof,it is part of keeping the 2 half's together that you would ha...

Well our MH's survived 80+ mph storms

Hello From WV! The storm last Friday was unreal and I was all alone in the MH,except for 4 dogs. The roof rumbled but no issues with either MH and TG we have no trees close to the property. The trees literately bent over. I knew it was coming--thanks to face book--as it hit our home town. The MH's w...

Re: water heater

You can use any off the shelf electric hot water tank, you can get a tall or short. ONLY gas hot water tanks must be mobile home approved. Look at the prices-- around here the price for a bigger tank--40 vs 30 --the 40 is cheaper by$ 30 or more. Space well most of the time a hot water tank is in a cl...

Re: Questions about Buying A Mobile Home

I forgot to answer about buying the MH question. Never be afraid to be told NO because they usually counter offer something lower. Most people that put a home for sale want to sell it and the price the home a little higher to be able to negotiate the price UNLESS they are trying to get multi offers ...

Re: particle board floor question

I would just replace the particle board with a good exterior plywood, you might have to replace some joist to get a level floor. We added blocking to help strengthen ours too. Both are not hard repairs or expensive. Adding the cement to the floor may cause more problems than solve.

Re: Painting the exterior

When we painted our mobile home we were advised to replace all of the rusted screws--we did but wow took some time and muscle but we got a really nice job and it lasted. We used Benjamin Moore paint no need to prime with it but did take 2 coats, a semi gloss. I still see our old MH and the paint job...

Re: Metal roofs on manufactured homes

Many reasons, very fast/easy to install, you must put tar paper over the shingles or it voids the warranty but do not have to tear off the old shingles/roofing. Many color choices --we choose a light tan and a light grey, they are energy star and qualified for a tax credit. The lighter colors really...
