Quieting A Metal Roof?
Metal roof + acorn trees above = Not a very smart move. Is there anything that can be done to quiet it a little?

Floor Joist fix.
My parents have a mobile home and underneath the home there is a floor joist that has a knot busted out of it. I was thinking the best fix would be to screw a new 2x6 right up against and into the existing 2x6. Would this be the best fix?

Re: Final Attempt at Finding a Solution!
I also slowed the blower speed down and it still done it. I did notice that the btu rating on the furnace is higher than the max allowed on the data plate of the home.

Does your's also do it in the summer when the a/c is running? Mine is just as loud when the a/c kicks off in warm months. That is crazy.

Re: Final Attempt at Finding a Solution!
What other factors are you referring to? My problem is only in my bedroom. I very rarely hear it in the rest of the house.

Final Attempt at Finding a Solution!
My house is almost two years old. Since I moved in I have been plagued with noisy ducts underneath. When I turn the unit on I hear constant popping coming from the unit. After the air or heat goes off I hear constant knocking underneath from the unit to about 20 feet away in one direction. Stepping ...

Extended Fan Timer Thermostat?
When my central heat turns off it doesn't have a cool down cycle. This causes my ducts to just go crazy with expansion/contraction. I did an experiment where I would turn the fan on after the heater kicked off and this wasn't a problem at all. Can I buy a thermostat with a fan timer that will keep i...

Re: Insulation Damage?
I'm actually wanting to hang a shelf up to the wall and I can't get it centered right if I use the studs. So I wanted to use anchor bolts. I'm sorry for not being concise. Anyway, I just wanted to make sure that there wouldn't be any damage to the insulation in the walls by drilling a hole for the b...

Insulation Damage?
Will installing anchor bolts in the wall board of my mobile home damage the insulation? I've heard that the insulation will wrap around the drill bit and pull it all apart. Is this true?

Duct Replacement
I have a mobile home that has ducts underneath that are NOISY. In most of the house you can't hear anything. However, underneath the master bedroom it can wake you up. This happens after the unit turns off. It usually continues until the unit turns back on again. I know that it's expansion/contracti...

Done with HVAC, going to window units!!!
I purchased a nice mobile home last year. I have had nothing but trouble with my hvac. After the ac and heat kick off, the ducts in my master bedroom boom and pop and the air handler pops really loud. It does this until it kicks on again. It has never stopped after a year and seems to be getting wor...

a/c blows to the ceiling...
I have a fairly new mobile home (2010) that I moved into last year. When the a/c turns on, the air blows to the ceiling. It blows so high that it turns the ceiling fan. I recently bought some floor registers that sit in the holes. If I try to close the vent, it literally blows the register out of it...

Re: Duct Question
I know that as soon as the heat kicks off the ducts are warm to the touch. In about 5 minutes they are back to room temperature. The "popping" will start about three minutes after the heat kicks off and continues on for a good while. It never did this until about 9 months after I moved in....

Duct Question
I have a mobile home that has a central unit. The unit itself is quiet. However, in one spot of the home (right under the master bedroom) there is a continuous popping sound after the heat and a/c kick off. I took all the registers off to make sure that was not what I was hearing. Even then I still ...
