Re: reflective roll insulation for roofing

This stuff is VERY popular down here in Texas. They claim that it has a very large R value. I doubt that.

Re: Question about metal siding.

I spoke with a company in town. They are the company that most everyone uses. What's strange is that I do not know anyone that has ever had their house re-leveled. I've been in the same neighborhood for over 25 years and have never seen it done. They are charging $350 plus materials for a 16x56. I w...

Re: Question about metal siding.

Thanks for the reply Greg. This is the fourth mobile home that I've lived in. They have all had metal siding and this is the first time that I have ever heard this much noise. I have someone coming out to level the house at the end of the month. I hope this minimizes the noise. If not, could the met...

Question about metal siding.

I have a mobile home that I bought and set up 4 years ago. I have noticed that the metal siding is making much more noise than it did at first. Could this indicate that the home is out of level?

Mobile Home Not Level?

I have noticed that the skirting around my mobile home (one side in particular) is bowing out. How do I know if it needs to be re-leveled? I spoke with a reputable company that gave me a bid of $400 to relevel it. It's a 16x56. Is this a good price? One last question. How important is it to have it ...

Re: Roof Ventilation Question

Norm - No, not that I'm aware of. I see them put up all the time and I have never seen an inspector. Though that is the norm when electricity and plumbing is installed for the first time.

Re: Roof Ventilation Question

I doubt that I'll be able to get him back out here. He's always got an excuse every time as to why he can't come. So I will more than likely have to hire another contractor to fix the problem and I want to be a little knowledgeable about the process.

Roof Ventilation Question

A little over a year ago I had a roof over built directly onto my mobile home. The contractor did not account for all boots and I eventually realized that I do not have ventilation going from my bathroom fan to outside. Normally I would be content with letting it vent between the two roofs. However,...

Strange Dents?

My dad asked me to come over to his house today to look at one side of his trailer. He showed me SEVERAL dents in the metal siding. He spends lots of time on that side of the house and claims that they just showed up. I know we had a crazy wind storm a week or so ago where things were hitting everyt...

Removing Dents

Hey guys! I have a quick question. I had a man come and replace my roof and when he was trimming the overhang he put a ladder up and down the siding of my house putting several dents in it in the process. Under the gutters there is a trim that fits over the vertical metal siding. This stuff s...

A Question for JD and the roofing experts...

I have a mobile home that had an old roll over metal factory roof on it. I live under a bunch of trees and it was always so very loud when pinecones and acorns fell on it. Back in June I had a metal roof over built over it. It is attached directly to the original roof. The guy that put it on told me...

Re-roof a Roof-Over?

Here's how my roof over was done: My home is 16 feet wide. On each side the contractor put 3 lathes down. One at the ridge, one on the eave, and one in the middle. He used regular ag panel (tx rib, classic rib, imperial rib, etc). I was told by several people that it needed a maximum of 2 foot cente...

Can I Use This Tool On My Roof?

I had a contractor put on a roof on my home. He got the pieces lined up but the overhang is 5 1/2 inches wider on the front end than on the back end. Can I use an electric nibbler to cut a straight line? I'm worried about burring the edges but I was told that it wouldn't.

Re: One More Roofing Question for the Experts

From what I understand you have to be very careful what you use because if you use the wrong thing then you void the warranty as it will burn off the coating. I've heard of nibblers and shears.

One More Roofing Question for the Experts

I hired a contractor that put up a metal roof over on my home. My home was pretty bad out of square and I've got about a 5 1/2" overhang on one end and a 10" overhang at the other end. What is the best way to trim that? He claims that he will pop a chalk line and trim it. I'm not sure of the tool th...
