Re: Important to make sure your skirting is in good shape

I've been away from home (stranded) for a couple of days, and when I got home this afternoon my wife said her bathroom pipes were frozen. I walked around the back of the trailer and sure enough, the skirting had blown in along an 8 foot section, leaving a gap of several inches along that wall. Proba...

Plastic or Metal?

When replacing a water heater, should I use plastic (pvc) or metal elbows and couplings with my pex pipes? I plan to use gator bite fittings.

Re: what brand home?

Look for the info tag under the kitchen sink. If you can't get inside I'm not sure if there's a way to find out if you can't get inside the home.

Re: Water Heater Help

Hmm...$1300 divided by 30 years. That's about $43/year. Sounds like a fair price. Let's hope you get 30 years out of the new one!

Try this place - it's a mobile home supply place in Springfield, Illinois.
Here's a web page link to doors & door parts. You might even give them a call.

Re: Water heater replacement

I just did what Greg suggests. The plumber wanted $678 to install a new gas water heater (cost included water heater, removal of the old one, and installation of the new one. Since I had room in my breaker box, I bought a new electric one water heater for half the cost of the gas replacement and ins...

At the last place I bought I just went through and replaced every outlet. Cheap, though tedious, peace of mind.

Re: HO Insurance & Water Heater Condition?

I just had 4 stick homes insured with a new carrier, and the new carrier insisted they have an agent photograph all four exterior sides of the homes, the breaker box in each home, and the water heaters. I think condition of the water heater is becoming important to them because bad ones have caused ...

Re: Consequences of an overflowing toilet...

I'd replace the carpeting. Bathrooms are small and quality remnants are cheap. Once you pull up the old carpet you can see if there is other damage that needs to be addressed.
I put new carpet in my bathroom every couple of years!

Re: My kitchen project

I just did a kitchen remodel and it was harder getting the old cabinets out than getting the new ones in. You can TRY to salvage the old ones, but all I saved was the knobs and hinges.

Re: Ventilation question

My insulated skirting also needed ventilation, so I got these and have 10 of them placed around my singlewide. I used a jigsaw and easily cut the holes I needed. The "automatic" vents open and close as the outside temperature changes, and they come in various colors. www.amazon.com/Black-P...

Reciprocating saws are wonderful things. And new doors come pre-framed to swing any way you like. Have at it.
