Re: Crossover duct sizing.....

I happen to be going through same issues as you are right now. After inspecting the ducting I found out that someone has jerry-rigged it. They didn't even have the right duct parts in proper alignment by size or by matching up via which has a crimped edge. They didn't know how to connect them so the...

Re: Best method for skirting

i am currently working out pricing for replacing skirting. I compared material cost between using wood panel siding vs concrete blocks. Not only are blocks cheaper but the labor involved is about 75% less! This is because there is no need to use treated wood at ground level while creating an entire ...

Re: I need input on best way to hang new copper or pex pipes from underside mobilehome without opening up belly board

As it turns out I do now understand your concept, without needing that drawing. I also got lucky because the plumber just ran and pipes using the lowest metal beams that run under home. He used self-drilling metal screws and some basic plumber hooks to keep pipes running across the bottom. We even p...

YES please post drawing! I was just discussing using 2x4 wedged between beams and your idea seems very thought out and detailed. I want to show this to my worker that his helping me. We are meeting tomorrow. Not sure if I will be able to get diagram that quickly. I'll keep checking here for update r...

Re: I need input on best way to hang new copper or pex pipes from underside mobilehome without opening up belly board

I got through to the city plumber inpector for my area and he told me running along ground not allowed. But he says self-tap screws into metal will work just fine. So I got my answer! Hope this helps others. Don't waste time running on ground. Put up on beams will work and just use felt or other sep...

Re: I need input on best way to hang new copper or pex pipes from underside mobilehome without opening up belly board

I've got the "cold" and "critters"' issues already worked out. I just need to to know if anyone has ever done what I describe in my 3 ideas I listed and how they made it successfully work. IF you say that you've seen pipes that have been run around outside walls, then it seems th...

I need input on best way to hang new copper or pex pipes from underside mobilehome without opening up belly board

The old galvanized pipes need replaced under a double wide mobilehome. I am going to run new pipes, using a new streamlined path from city water hookup to my water heater etc. I am trying to avoid ripping open belly board, then having to drill holes through many many joist locations to run new pipes...

Re: We have a new owner!

my 2 cents is: once a visitor chooses the main topic to review such as "REPAIRS", there should then be categories listed, each with their own sub-topics so it's easier and faster to find what a visitor is looking to read about. Example: I want to read up on questions and answers about &quo...

What is correct type of Nail to use on outside wall panels

I get so confused going into Home Depot and looking at all the boxed nails. Most say they are "galvinized" which is not a long term coating for outdoor walls. They will eventually start to rust and streak. Others say "outdoor" use but are coated with a gold tint? the box doesn't ...

Water Pipes located directly under sub-floor normal ???

I had a worker cutting out my particleboard floors. Because mobile homes from the 70's were put together in wacky ways, he accidentally cut right through a galvanized water line and we had to replace the pipe. The pipe wasn't even at the bottom area of the joist. It was actually right under the sub ...

Re: Sagging wall + skirting costs

I should add, I don't quite know what type of frost issues you have in your area, but you can start with this information and see if your guy who mentioned the pony wall can explain how he can make sure you won't have issues if you go with his idea: http://www.concreteconstruction.net/Images/How%20t...

Re: Sagging wall + skirting costs

Based on all the floor work I just did on my 1973 mobile, I would first compare your 2 choices to support the floor: 1) a pony wall would be a concrete blocked wall that would support the outer edge of your home. 2) a joist would be another wood beam in the floor (that can be installed from undernea...

Re: What is Best thickness of laminate flooring for double w

I did call Clarion today (who makes a lot of boards for different name brands) and found that this product is of high quality MDF material and my installer says he loves it also. It goes together well and looks great. You can also visit their site for more specifications to see it's not just cheapo ...

Re: What is Best thickness of laminate flooring for double w

I found the Clarion LLC name from backside of panels happens to be in Pennsylvania, (which makes sense to the "Pennsylvania Traditions" name) According to their site, they do use high end materials. On monday I am going to phone them to verify their "sycamore' 12mm, from HD closeout, ...
