Re: Total Remodel

Well the new house is FINALLY done and we've moved. Still can't believe it took so long. We've got the trailer all spiffy and staged. I got some really good pictures and created a website. We're keeping our fingers crossed. :D

Re: Deck Skirting

The previous owner of our place used accordian window shutters to give us access in three places. They work great,,, as I'm in under the trailer every weekend. Don't know where you are but in Florida they're pretty easy to find used and cheap on Craigs List. http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/for/48029...

Re: Putting down engineered floor on uneven floor and humid

You might want to take a look at this product by USFloors - CORETEC. This is what we're going to install in our new place. http://www.usfloorsllc.com/products/coretec-plus/ It's a vinyl product but more like a laminate as it looks like and installs like a laminate . Two things we like is it's waterp...

Re: Total Remodel

What is your expected profit margin after purchase and expenses? What would you realistically deduct from that margin for your labor? This was a forclosure we bougth at what I consider the bottom of the market here,, we paid $230k and it was a good deal. We're hoping to sell for somewhere around $3...

Re: Total Remodel

Got the surround installed yesterday. I had a bit of a time fitting the back wall though. The good news is a 4" grinder with an 80 grit wheel worked perfectly. I like this solution a lot better than the fiberglass panels. I'll caulk it today and install the rest of the hardware. http://lsspecia...

Re: Total Remodel

I like that countertop and sink. Although I think my kids would make a mess of it with water splashing all over! What kind of trim or edging are you putting on the front where the tile ends? Just some 1x5 pine,,, nothing too fancy. I've finished everything less installing the tub surround and some ...

Re: Total Remodel

Getting really close. Painted it four times now, primer, the first color which I hated,, then two coats to cover the bad choice. Crown is up,,, still having problems getting that exactly right. Counter top is in, mirror and lights in and trimmed out the window. Today I rehang the door after a trim,,...

Re: Replacing bath tub

Well I'm a cheap bastage,, so I went with the $150 one,, and I ordered the white cultured marble surround today for $294. I'll be in it for less than $500 total. That said,, I'm sure the one at lowes is a much nicer tub. Does your local Home Depot keep them in stock where you might look at one befor...

Re: Replacing bath tub

I had the same concerns after reading the comments. I had to special order mine and I had them ship it to the store in case it was scratched. It was,, but just on the flange which wasn't a problem. I figured if it came in bad,,, they could keep it and order me another. I didn;t want it shipped to th...

Re: Replacing bath tub

I just did,,, although the one I replaced was 28" or so. I haven't reinstalled the toilet yet which is right next to the tub,,, I think I'll be OK. There never was a lot of room between the two. You will probablly have to redo the drain pipes a bit but that should be fairly easy. Post some pics...
