Thanks

Re: Sheathing Question

Thanks Greg. I am going to see if I can get the window installer to make good on this damage from leaking, expensive window, only one year old. The stuff already in my wall, looks and feels like cardboard. . Sheathing is 1/4 inch thick. My home is 28 years old I wanted to know what sheathing, people...

Sheathing Question

A small section of sheathing, about 2x4, approx, got wet from leaking window. Sheathing got warped, and needs to be replaced, in the section of wall, under large window. It was a bay originally, but replaced with a triple, double hung. The original sheathing seems to be 1/4 inch cardboard, foil on o...

Re: Wet Sheathing

Thank you, Greg. Must I replace it with the same stuff? Where would I get it?
I live in the boonies....have Walmart and Lowes.

Can I use rigid foam? Already have that.

I would love to see referrals also. There may be a poster in my neck of the woods, that could refer someone. My local small town paper has no ads for MH contractors/handymen.

Re: Cleaning stove hood

I spread newspaper. It's absorbent and super simple to toss, when finished. Have fun.
Balled up newspaper works great on windows, also.

Re: hard water deposits

I can tell you only our personal experience. I had the same problem for several years. We assumed it was the fault of the cold water....excessive minerals, etc. We bought new faucets more than once. Many people told us it was coming from the water heater. I didn't believe it, because it was the cold...

Re: Top Load Washer vs. Front Load

Well, I've spent many hours this week, reading reviews, and the consensus is, everybody hates their top loaders. They are mostly made by the same compony, no matter the brand on the machine. I've had my Kenmore for almost 20 years. It's been sqealing lately when it spins. I didn't want to wait for i...

Re: Top Load Washer vs. Front Load

Thanks Greg. I'm having a terrible time choosing a washer. Reading reviews on Consumer Reports, for all washers, under $700, and every brand gets terrible reviews from real people, even when Consumer Reports claims it to be good in most respects.

Top Load Washer vs. Front Load

Seems to me, the extremely fast spin cycle would cause too much vibration in front loader.
I never leave house with appliances running, so if the top loader is unbalanced, I can correct it immediately. I worry about pipes coming loose, underneath home, from vibration.
Any ideas about washers?

Re: Squatters....the cute, squeaky kind.

Ain't they cute? Grrrrr! I recently got behind/under my kitchen sink, and stuffed around the pipes with steel wool. Covered every opening as much as possible, and still have mice coming in. I hate killing critters, but my kitchen is off limits to the filthy varments. Darn useless cats spend the nigh...

Re: Recording digital tv program

Greg, I meant, is there another gadget I can buy? I don't know what a DVD OR DVR are.
I have one converter on an analog TV with converter. I use the vcr on that one.
I want to be able to record on a new digital TV in another room. I just don't know what new recorder device to buy for it.
