It's less expensive to replace the entire assembly than just the motor. You can get them fairly inexpensively.

Yes, replacing the duct is fairly simple, but be sure you run it by an ac man to be sure your idea will work. You can buy pipe in 5' sections at any ac supply house in your town. Know what diameter pipe you need...this isn't a guessing is good enough thing. That affects the pressures.
