RE: Electric fireplace

If you want to save on heating bills they are NOT the way to go. If you want something that's like a fire place go for the ones with the hologram flame. They're quite realistic. We have two, one in the media room and one in the master bedroom. We like them because we can have a fire without heat. On...

What I loved? My extra deep bathtub. It's great to soak in. It's standard size though. I also love having extra outlets. If you're tearing out the drywall make sure you put outlets where you want them.

I'd like it to look good for about seven years after that I don't really care :~) It'll be paid off by then and we'll stop renting it and sell it. I read all kinds of articles about how to mix a oil based primer and DH said forget it, it can stay as is if he has to do anything special to the paint. ...

painting metal siding

We recently acquired a sad little trailer on an adjoining property. It's a 1976 Marshfield with metal siding.

What is the best way to paint it? We power washed the excess dirt and mold (yes you read that correctly) off of it.

I'm afraid regular paint and primer won't be enough. Any suggestions?

Harrison is a family name. I tried to talk Noah's parents into Harrison but with a 12 letter long last name it was a bit of a mouthful. BTW, Noah didn't have a name until about three hours before he was born. I got three baby name books and each of sat in the labor room and picked ok names. I wrote ...

RE: Grandkids

Noah arrived on Tuesday morning a little after 1 am. He was the largest "premature" baby the staff had ever seen. The ridiculous doctor couldn't quite bring herself to admit she was wrong. He was 7.9oz and 20" long. He's beautiful! Everyone is doing fine. His other gramma left back fo...

I'll be a grandma by next Monday. The doctor is going to induce her if his lungs are ready. I'll keep you posted on the baby with no name.

RE: The aftermath - Iowa floods of 08

Thanks. My long winded question was really has anyone here had a FEMA trailer after Katrina? The first of the trailers started towards the corridor area yesterday. I saw one on the I could see the chairs bouncing around. Any advise for friends who may end up in one? These are people who came from &q...

The aftermath - Iowa floods of 08

It's been a crazy three weeks here in Iowa. Life is slowing getting back to a new normal. A new normal with lots of homeless people and lots of business closed indefinitely. In our own smaller scale I suppose its much like Katrina was to NOLA. We all sandbagged what and where we could but all in all...

RE: replace patio door

Yes! you can replace a sliding door in a mh with a regular one. We got a Pella one and are very happy with it. The hole must be made larger though. It was an all day project that my husband needed my son's help for. As an insurance agent I'd say do not submit small claims or even bring them up to yo...

Although they would only say the baby "appears" to be a boy. It was obvious from other images that he comes with all the right parts. He is nameless though. So if anyone knows any good short names.... mom and dad could use them. So far he could be Elliott or Ethan or maybe Jackson (althoug...

I think two widths is as much of a span as you could do without support. We were ok without but just barely.

I'd like to mention to get the contract agreement in writing. DH and I weren't going for the lowest rate around but were looking for unlimited data and a decent amount of minutes with weekends and nights free. We drove through the flood of Cedar Rapids to pick up our phones and when we got home and ...
