Carol - We have our septic about 50 feet away from the house... the building inspector had us get the slope of the new line to the septic approved by the water district people--and their only concern--with that distance is getting a good enough slope. Also a problem because some of the pipe is very ...

When we lived only feet from our neighbor I covered our windows with a frosted contact paper--I got it from Home Depot--it has little diamond type patterns in it and lets all the light in. A friend liked it and used it on her windows that are on either side of her front door. And - when wanting to m...

?? abt Pex and manifolds
We are planning on replacing plumbing with Pex this coming spring/summer and I am wondering from those of you who have worked with pex lines... is it better to have one manifold from which all lines start (1/2 and 3/8 inch depending on the use)--or have a smaller manifold to start and 3/4 or 1/2 inc...

RE: Solar panel
I've been looking at several options to heat water (for our pool) and 'pre-heat' water for a radiant floor system--too busy right now to build them... that's what I'm doing this fall (hopefully). I have found the best ideas and step by step instructions on builditsolar.com--there are tons of DIY ide...

RE: Spring Garden and Landscape Projects!
Wow--sounds like great things are happening all over! :) Here - since we just moved here--to eastern Utah - altitude abt 6000 ft, mostly high desert climate with TONS of wind - our main concerns this spring/summer are getting our outbuildings, patios, porches, pergolas, trails and gravel in place. W...

RE: Water pressure question in one bathroom
We are having that same problem with our kitchen's hot water. It worked great before we moved our house. Our pipes are CPVC. My husband was thinking that there may be air in the line somewhere... would that cause this? How can I find what or where the problem is? What steps do I need to follow to ge...

RE: Tighten hinges
If the screws are loose and the holes for them are too big now, I have had success by using wooden toothpicks (the round ones) and wood glue in the holes--cutting the toothpicks flush with the jam (or door)--this gives the screws good material to grip. Good luck!
