Aluminum cleaner

Hi everyone, I want to clean up the inside framework and crank mechanisms on some old crank out windows. Are there products available especially for cleaning aluminum or can someone recommend a product that they've used that worked and didn't harm anything? Preferably something that I can rinse away...

Good thought, I will definitely look at that possibility. And the inside wall is half finished...

Re: Rough opening is too small

That thought had crossed my mind Greg but I've already hung the drywall inside.

Rough opening is too small

Hey everyone, I'm working on doing some renovation on my 1973 Eldorado. I'm trying to make it more energy efficient one room at a time. The room that I've started in I've already removed the paneling, beefed up the insulation and replaced it with 1/2" drywall. I also wanted to replace the old a...

New subfloor over the existing

I'm just starting a renovation project in a bedroom. The existing floor is pretty firm and tight, I only know of one very small and slight soft spot. There is a cheap laminate floor that was put down and I know of at least 2 areas that the original subfloor was repaired with new plywood prior to tha...

Re: What would you use, 3/8" or 1/2" standard or 1/2" Lite drywall?

I appreciate your input Greg. I neglected to mention that I won't have to touch the ceilings, the panels are in great shape and will only need painting. I have yet to figure out exactly how I'm going to tackle the window sills as far as what material and method but the doorway is going to be easy. I...

What would you use, 3/8" or 1/2" standard or 1/2" Lite drywall?

I'll be starting my first real renovation project in mobile home very soon. I plan to strip the interior walls down to the studs, removing the existing 1/4" paneling and replacing it with drywall. I don't want to simply cover the existing paneling over because I know there was some termite dama...

Re: Vapor barrier, repair or replace

Definitely not in a freezing area, lol...
My main concern was rain water run off from the heavy thunderstorms of summer running underneath the home and evaporating in the heat. Thanks Greg

Vapor barrier, repair or replace

On my 1973 Eldorado the underside is generally intact when it comes to the original insulation and the backing paper of it. There are 2 places where it was removed for both a plumbing issue and a termite issue. These areas are repaired and completely separate from each other at opposite ends of the ...

Re: Drywall, what thickness should I use for the walls?

The parameter is blocked completely except for 2 small access areas of less then 3 feet. The size of the studs is still unknown and I will reply back as soon as I get a panel down, hopefully this weekend. Thank you Greg.

Drywall, what thickness should I use for the walls?

Hi everyone, I just joined the group and this is my first question to post. I recently purchased my first mobile home, a 58' 1973 Eldorado that needs some updating. My plan is to gut one room at a time, add insulation and new windows then replace the paneling with new wall board. The home is located...
