If there is no common you're only other choice is adding a 120v → 24v transformer to the circuit.

A little late to be helpful but for anyone else, you're best option is to order a strip socket for the size Allan head you stripped, either online or a tool truck if available to you. What is the source of your heat. Is the coil in the gas valve getting hot, or is your 3/4 " burner tube conducting from the burner it's self. If the burner is heating up the gas valve, try adjusting the placement of your pilot flame, check your orifice as well, make sure it is a lpg orifice, th...
