Re: Floor repair

Don't forget to double check your plumbing....you don't want to have a leak get all over your nice new floors. :)

Check your connections on the supply and drains, and add shutoffs at each fixture if they're not there now. That way you can quickly isolate leaks and keep damage down to a minimum.

Re: Replacing old Poly stuff with PEX, have ?

Love those 1/4 turn valves.....easy to shutoff in an emergency.

I've done two homes in PEX, all used 3/4 for the main run and 1/2 for the branches, great results.

Re: insulating osb board underpinning

Certainly wont hurt things insulating your skirting. You can also check windows and doors and seal around them to keep out drafts. Keep in mind also that in 2013-14 the northern part of the USA had one of the worst winters in the past 30 years, so utility bills would be much higher than the average ...

Re: CPVC PIPE

You can replace your CPVC with pex lines, and use sharkbite connections to connect the different types of pipe together.

Re: Help! Can't find this part anywhere.

Have you taken the lock mechanism out of the door and cleaned it/lubricated it??
If its a 1966 original, Im sure theres plenty of dirt/paint/old grease in there which may bind things up. Maybe it will help the lock work a little better, plus its free(except for some time)

Piece of cake once you MAKE SURE the power is off at the breaker. You DONT want to get "zapped".

Re: Rotten Joists

Check your plumbing connections from top down, repair/replace as necessary. Look on tub faucets, toilet feed/flange, shower feed too. Do you have a roof vent above your master bath?? When I bought my mobile, it had a leaky toilet flange that rotted out most of the bathroom floor. The cause could als...

PVC and caulk it in good. Shower water can be sneaky, especially if kids are using it. They just love to "splash" everything....walls, ceilings, and floors.

Re: Bathroom exhaust fan

Usually bathroom fans are on the cheap side from the factory. You can pull the fan/motor out of the fixture, clean it up, lube the bearings, and check the exhaust tubing for dirt/clogs. Hopefully that will help improve getting moist air up and out of the home. Newer fans operate quieter and move mor...

Re: Can bathroom fans be repaired?

Solution 1 is to dig the fans out of each fixture, clean them up, lightly lube the bearings, and hope for the best. They might work again, but who knows and for how long??
Solution 2 is to replace the fan out of each fixture. You can probably get a direct replacement right here at the site.

Id also caulk around the window Inside and out to stop any leaks. Helps to keep the rot from happening again.
