Re: Replacing tub

Thanks! So, one stupid question..How do I get the tub drain out? The tub was old and the drain corroded. When trying to pull out the drain, the crossbar broke. I can get a flathead screwdriver under the lip of the drain, but I don't want to yank or pull because I'm not sure if I'm going to break som...

Replacing tub

Hello everyone! I was wondering if I might get some input on my mother's home. We are planning to re-do her bathroom. New toilet, vanity, etc. Right now, she has a standard bathtub with the three wall panel surround. Can we remove the bathtub and replace it with a shower pan to then tile the walls? ...

Skylight leaking

Hello everyone! I have a 1990 Sterling and a few weeks ago, realized that the skylight in the master bath was leaking (the one in the kitchen and second bath leaks as well). In the case of the master bath, though, the ceiling is peeling away, and now, chunks are falling off and the drip is coming fr...

manufactured home insurance

Hi! While not necessarily falling under the umbrella of repair, was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on insurance for manufactured homes? I have my primary home and my mother's. We had American Modern (that was included in our mortgage) then last year when my mother had hail damage, the a...

Re: Shower and Tub

Hmm... it appears that what you have *is* a Roman Tub. With wasted space. I say, get out the graph paper and design your ideal bathroom. Gut it - that dusky rose color theme smells like my grandma's house. Don't worry about electric in that wall, just don't go chainsaw massacre crazy on it. And ope...

Bathroom Remodel

Thought I would share a picture of our bathroom remodel. This bath has a shower/tub (to the left, behind the door). I basically got a nice rounded shower curtain to give more space in the shower. Because cost is an issue, I spent weeks scouring Craig's List and got a great deal on the set (vanity, f...

Re: Shower and Tub

Hmm..thanks! I like the idea of a Roman Tub. Would love to see pictures of what you did. As far as the Sawzall. In other words, once I shut off the water, I don't have to worry about "hurting" anything? (just checking hehe) I've attached a photo of my corner with the tub. Any ideas what is...

Shower and Tub

Hello Everyone! First off, I’ll confess that I’ve been a lurker for a while now…reading these forums for tips and tricks! My husband and I bought a 1990 Sterling two years ago, and little by little have been fixing it up. We’ve already re-done the kitchen and second bathroom, along with new flooring...
