Re: Installing New Waterlines

Here's how we ran the main line into the house. The tubing is installed up in the floor cavity rather than hanging below the floor joists as the old plumbing was. Hoping this will keep the pipes warmer in the winter. The installation parts were getting expensive, so I just got a few pieces and exper...

Re: Installing New Waterlines

Hey all, finally ready for an update. Here are some pics of the new main line. Found a new plastic connector (bottom piece) and 3/4" threaded pex connector (top brass piece) at Lowes. The plastic piece is something like this: http://www.lowes.com/pd_53802-322-350305_1z10vjn+1z10xvv__?productId=...

Re: Floor repair

Great, I was hoping plywood on it's own would do :) We're also replacing all the plumbing, we had frozen pipes this winter and leaks all over the place, hence all this floor repair. The tub in the master bath, however, has been leaking since long before this winter. So it's in the worst condition, w...

Floor repair

I am replacing water damaged floors in a few sections of the house. Two bathrooms, laundry room, and under the kitchen sink. I plan to use 3/4" plywood subfloor and loose-lay vinyl plank as the finish floor. My questions are about underlayment. Since these are potentially wet areas, what is the...

Re: Well storage tank? PEX main line?

The pics are right where the deck meets the house, but the tank and main line are just under the house. We're getting new skirting this year as well, so it should be all sealed up eventually. I'm also planning to install drain tile pipe around the exposed part of the main line as described in The Ma...

Re: Well storage tank? PEX main line?

Thanks! I will take the advice to cut it out and take to a plumbing supply store. Probably the easiest way to change out that fitting anyway.

Well storage tank? PEX main line?

Few questions, 1) Is this my well storage tank? The lid was just sitting on top of the barrel, not attached or sealed in any way and it seems kind of dirty in there. How would I go about cleaning and/or sealing it up, if necessary? 2) Pretty sure the upper gray pipe is polybutylene, same as the rest...

Installing New Waterlines

Hey everyone, this is my first post here and first big project this season! I am planning to replace all the waterlines in our double-wide home with PEX pipe. We currently have polybutylene and have had many problems this winter. Here is my plan and some questions. This is my first plumbing project,...
