Earthquake Restraint Bracing System ERBS

I did a search but found no reference to the ERBS. We live near enough to the New Madrid fault line to sustain severe damage if it goes off like they say its going to. I did a search online and this is what the experts recommend and I wanted to get your input on this as well as where a reputable pro...

8' ceilings common?

Just buying a mobile on 2 acres and found it interesting that it has 8' ceilings throughout, flat ceilings, not cathedral. Does this mean anything worthwhile? It was manufactured in 78, its declared a 79 model I believe. IN very good condition. It has a very nice house type built family room added o...

We just bought a mobile on 2 acres and it has a less than 4 yr old replacement mobile home electric water heater. Also a water softener same age, we're getting ready to hook everything up and want to put an on demand gas water heater in both the bathroom and kitchen (other end of trailer), so we are...

Looking at new Lexington

Hi, Our local MH dealer is going out of business after 40 yrs. They have one model left, a Lexington 28x52, she said 1312 sq ft. What do we need to look for in going and looking at this brand new home? They have come down to $47,000 as they're desperate to stop paying the company to have it sit on t...

Re: structural integrity??

Ok to everyone who suggested perimeter blocking under our mobile, can we do it ourselves and what does it entail? Or is it something that has to be hired done? We have our mobile on very firmly packed chat that was in place for over a year before trailer was set up on it. (previously we had a large ...

Re: structural integrity??

Thanks JD, but to answer your question about putting 1x4 perpendicular to existing 2x2s, the answer was no. We don't have the walls exposed to the studs and were not going to tear out the existing paneled walls. We wanted to go on outside of them essentially losing a bit of floorspace but not much. ...

Re: structural integrity??

Hi Jim, and Greg, thanks for responding. I believe when my husband replaced a window this summer, it is 2x2s as studs in the walls. Are we in bad shape, since the front bedroom partition wall was removed, and its closet wall as well? By the way, all the remodeling was done before we got it. Thank yo...

structural integrity??

We have an approximate early 70's used trailer. It is a 12' x 52' and has paneling that has had the "knockdown" vinyl wallpaper added over top and painted to make the walls look like they are sheet rocked with the knockdown texture. The front bedroom that had the bay window in it also had ...

Stick It and Forget It.....

I was just reading in my online manual about the mobile home addition tips and the use of stick it and forget it membrane over flashing connections. We have a roof over that was obviously put on by a company that does the "roof blanket" type covers with 2" of solid styrofoam sheets un...

Yes JD I think you are correct in assuming that this 2nd roof is a company manufactured product similar to what you install. It looks like the ones in the back of our electric coop magazine for mobile homes. It must have been on there awhile because of the ponding. I know it did sit for 2 months at ...

metal roofover, on top of 2" foam, or fix ponding?

HI, We just joined the forum and ordered the mobile home repair manual online. We want to put the inexpensive metal roof over ours, its a 70's something 12x52' (48' box length) it is our "lake house" so to speak. We are not sure we need to because the original metal roof (no pitch) was cov...
