Re: Window Sills Peeling

Greg photos would be great! Do I private message you my email or how does that work? Don't know if I want to contract the window replacement or not. I'll have to take it slowly. I know that we're also going to have to replace the front door sill, or facing or whatever you call it, as it is particle ...

Re: Window Sills Peeling

Brenda, I did not think of that. Greg, I think I'll look into the price of replacing those 2 crank windows. Even though I'm limited due to the opening size, this house is 17 years old, so it could be that I could find something a lot better now.

Re: Window Sills Peeling

Single pane. I remember that the salesman told us that thick insulation was more important than double pane windows. We were kind of naive and too accepting back then.

Re: Window Sills Peeling

Thank you Yanita and Greg for your replies. Greg, Most of our windows are the conventional, slide up and down kind with a screen on the outside. The master bath and laundry room have windows with a screen on the inside and a 2-section glass set on the outside. You open the windows by operating a cra...

Window Sills Peeling

We live in a 1994 Skyline double-wide. The windows have particle board sills with white plastic attached. They are all peeling, and some of the bottom sills have damage from sweaty windows. I know I need to replace those damaged bottom sills. I am thinking of removing the rest of the peeling plastic...

Thank you Trudi. Yesterday, I used Pebeo Porcelaine paint on tooling foil to create a cover for the switch and plug face plates. This paint has to sit for 24 hours, then I have to cook it at 300 degrees in the oven for 35 minutes. This is an experiment, because I don't know how it's going to turn o...

RE: New here, question about TSP and texture compound

Seeing that the program is wisely set to resize pictures, I'll upload a cropped version for a better view: http://mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/userpix/5266_71809cropped_1.jpg Those little staples on the right don't show up as badly as they appear to here. There was a close light to the right, causing ...

RE: New here, question about TSP and texture compound

Thank you JD! Okay, here are some pics: Here is the pile of paper from the wallboard and the now naked  wallboard with faint wallpaper prints. http://mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/userpix/5266_71809058_1.jpg Here I have started applying primer again, since the first application had caused the wal...

Re: RE: New here, question about TSP and texture compound

You can find full instructions on uploading pictures in a Sticky in the Website Questions forum. Here is a link to it. http://mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2414 I am not sure what you read about a bonding primer, but you may be looking for a product like Zinsser Gardz. This is not real...

RE: New here, question about TSP and texture compound

New update: Well, I went to Lowe's and asked for the "bonding" primer. The lady said she had never heard of a primer with that on the label, and I could not find anything that said that. I could not find any premixed joint compound. I just didn't get anything and headed back to the house. ...

I see this thread's getting a fair amount of views, so I'll post another update. I took another look at the wall and decided to go ahead and do another TSP wash. I was afraid there might be rubbery glue there or something. Then, I rinsed. There were some granules that came off, and rather than conti...

RE: New here, question about TSP and texture compound

Here is an update. Day before yesterday, I washed the area with TSP and rinsed it. This afternoon, I applied primer. I could tell it needed another coat. It said wait an hour to apply any more latex, so I waited about 3 hours, then applied the second coat, using a rag-wrapped, thin paintbrush becaus...
