Re: How to cut crimps rings off PEX pipe
I have used the tool to remove copper rings. I guess it depends on what the pipe looks like after you use it (inside and out). I have crimped, cut off and then crimped a new ring on new connections without issue but I am not sure how well that would work on an aged pipe. The tool I use is a plier ty...

Re: Low water pressure
If you have well water, the first thing that I would check would be the air pre-charge in the bladder tank. The pressure that should be in the tank (when empty of water) is typically set at 2 psi below the cut-in pressure on the pump switch.

Re: Low Water Pressure
Sorry, I was assuming that you had a well . I did not realize that you had city/municipal water. In that case, my post does not really apply to your situation. Sorry to add to your confusion.

Re: Low Water Pressure
Maybe something happened to the bladder tank, possibly a rupture or no pressure in the bladder? If there is no pressure in the bladder tank the only pressure that you will get would be that generated by the pump. Also possible leak in the piping from the well pump up to the well head? In my case, th...

Re: Top Load Washer vs. Front Load
I agree, buy a front loader of you can. We got a front loading washer/dryer set from Sears (Kenmore units) and are very happy with them. I find them much easier to load/unload versus the top loaders; easier on the back. If there is an imbalance in the load, we get a little shake in the home but it d...

Re: Forced air heat distribution changed to uneven
I did something similar. I put together a solid metal 10" duct with the appropriate elbows from one side to the other of my DW, then I insulated it using a 12" flexible crossover pipe which I slid over the solid duct like a sleeve. Seems to work well for me.

RE: Underbelly Work and then some
DavidW: I was just wondering what you used because I had a similar idea in the back of my mind. I have used inside the same foggers that you used underneath, but I always turn off the furnace and such before setting them off and leaving (with cats in tow) for the few hours that is recommended. Thank...

RE: Insulation R-value for underbelly?
Yanita's post is more in line with my thinking. While more insulation can't hurt as sohappy suggests, I am in a cold climate during winter. Since 99% of my heating is done with a pellet stove and not the furnace, I have to have ambient heat able to move through the floor to the pipes. Insulation bet...

RE: Underbelly Work and then some
DavidW: I couldn't see the number of can bombs that you used. If you don't mind, what brand did you use, how many, and what size is your home's footprint? I have a 24x48 and am getting everything together to fully replace the underbelly. Your idea sounds like a good one for my situation to prep for ...

RE: Total Bathroom Reno
I can definitely sympathize; my bathroom renovation started the same way. Old WH burst and ruined the floor. Replace the entire floor section for the bathroom and WH closet. Do your best to get as much of the rotted flooring out from under the walls. As has been suggested use 3/4 tongue and groove p...

Insulation R-value for underbelly?
I am getting my information together for materials and approximate cost to replace the entire underbelly of my 24x48 double wide. The critters have essentially torn down any insulation that was there. I plan on buying a pair of the 16x80 belly paper rolls from the site; the insulation would come fro...

RE: Full spread vinyl sheet
Since both the Henry's and the underlayment are considered porous, it sounds like I should use the recommended 1/16 x 1/16 x 3/32 trowel that the Armstrong adhesive specifies. That makes sense to me since this will apply slightly more adhesive than the 1/16 x 1/16 x 5/64 trowel. Since I am laying th...

Full spread vinyl sheet
I think that this is more a decorating question than a repair question, so apologies if this should be in the repair forum. I am installing a full spread vinyl sheet floor in my bathroom. Depending on the type of underlayment used, a specific trowel type is needed for the adhesive application. I ins...

RE: Replacing tub with a shower
I had the same situation, replacing the 55" tub with a 48" shower. I had to move the shower drain to the center and sure enough there was a joist very close to the drain. I ended up cutting a slight indent into the side of the joist so that the vertical section of the drain pipe was flush ...

RE: Weight of bathroom fan a concern on 2x2's?
Brenda: I originally thought that I would use a basic vent fan w/o light like you have done. My wife saw the electric radiant floor mats in the store and thought that would make the bathroom floor warmer in the morning. Unfortunately she does not want a tiled floor in the bathroom (slippery). Since ...
